To think I can't do slings?

I have a bad back, lingering SPD and a three month old. So far I have tried-
Stretchy wrap
Ergo
Wilkinet
Baby bjorn (yes I know this has a bad rep)

I can't tolerate any of these for longer than 5-10 mins. Aibu to give up hope of ever using a sling (which would be so helpful with a toddler to look after too)? Is there some magic alternative I need to try? I am short BTW, which may make things worse?

One more thought for you - there are sling libraries around (some linked to sling meets, some not). Here's a list; as you can see, some do postal hires so if you know of something you'd like to try, you don't even need to be geographically close.

Ellaroo or any other sturdy woven wrap.

My SPD is also lingering a bit 3 months on but I exclusively babywear so I don't own a buggy nor do I want to. Carry DD everywhere in the ellaroo and I love it+ doesn't pain me.

Thanks Bertiebotts. I can't reply to your pm for some reason.

i have two children and use wovens or boba or ergo. i really like the boba for toddlers and boh have had every nap and feed on the move (sometimes both at the same time) for years and its still going strong. it's got a nice long body for when they outgrow the ergo

my tasteful greytone girasol is also wonderful

I couldn't get on with my local Slingmeet's Manduca or Beco, despite rave reviews, so don't think that just because some people have said 'Oh, this one is PERFECT' that you're doing it wrong. Grin I love my friend's Connecta and am about to get my own. I used to use woven wraps but lost the knack somehow, and ringslings now hurt my shoulder because DS2 is a hefty lump now he's nearly 2. Oh, and I second the poster who thinks she may have strengthened her back muscles by using slings - I definitely have, and I had a 'weak' back before, not to mention SPD-type pain. Not been an issue with slings.
