There are prizes given at a special assembly for pupils who have raised the most for their chosen charity. Not a case of them being sponsered to do anything, just name and amount on a sheet.
I have several issues with this. I think the act of giving should be prize enough and they are teaching kids there should be a reward for it. Secondly some parents and relatives may not have much money, but maybe £3 to them means a lot more than £20 to another pupil's down the road. Thirdly it may encourage some of the pupils to go door to door to raise more money, which may not be the safest.
Am I reading too much into this? Normally I let the school stuff wash over my head but this has annoyed me somewhat.
