£800 for a week's skiing in Andorra?

DH came home last night and announced that DSS had "signed himself up" for the School Ski Trip. £800 for a week? In Andorra? Not even flying but going by ferry and coach??!!!! Now I've skiied all over Europe and in Andorra and I know it's one of the cheaper options, so is this about normal for a school ski trip? OK it is half term and I know it subsidises staff and parents who get to go for free go along to look after the little darlings, but this seems extortionate - even with ski school, equipment hire, lift pass and meals. £800?!!!! Luckily his Mum will have to pay half, but even so. Is this about the going rate?!!

£600 for a week in the Lake District this year.

800 seems good value compared to that.

My son is doing a similar trip next year for just under £1000. He knows it is a big deal to go and is constantly thanking us for being allowed to go. He is also very mindful not to show of to his friends. Plus any stuff we have not being able to beg, borrow or steal will be a big part of my son's Christmas present.
I really don't like the OP's comment about the teachers going for free. Any teacher who gives up their half term to look after teenagers abroad 24/7 would probably come home needing a holiday.

My DS is spending £750 on his university ski trip. Mostly self-catering.

We are paying £1200 for our 10 year old to go skiing in France at Easter. That includes everything, flights, hotel, lessons, insurance, ski & helmet hire and food.
Wish I was going with him!

We paid £500 for dd to go on a week long watersports toBarcelona by coach.
