To be little bit proud of the way I handled this potentially horrible situation?

I've been to a ports event this evening. It brings a lot of extra traffic and parking demands to an area that was barely built to accommodate any cars - narrow streets, terraced houses, no driveways etc.

I along with several others was I driving along one of said terraced streets looking for a space. If you meet something coming the other way, one of you is going to have to back. I could see a car coming towards me, but I could also see there was a passing place next to him, he had already let a couple of cars through. There was nothing behind me for at least 200yds - I know because I would have parked in it if there was!

Anyway, as I approached he pulled forward at speed and we were head to head. I indicated that there was a space just behind him, but he didn't budge. He winds down his window and starts yelling. I politely explained that he was very close to a space and that there was nothing behind for some way. Then he got out of his car, got his face right in my window and starting yelling obscenities. He called me names I've never been called before - in fact I've never heard that particular name directed at a woman before (but maybe I've lead a sheltered life)

Anyway throughout the whole thing I was completely calm, never got angry or flustered, just kept repeating quietly that it would be easy for him to move. By this time there was a queue of cars behind me, so he had to get back in his car and back up. As I drove past I smiled sweetly and said a polite thank you.

I appreciate that it must have been frustrating for him if he'd been stuck there for a long time and also, (maybe) I'm enjoying the fact that I "won" a bit too much, but I was impressed with myself in the way I kept so calm, when I could easily have ranted back or burst into tears.

Was it my road? Every Monday to Thursday night for football over the road. Some of the road rage incidents are spectacular!

I would have definitely told him to fuck off and called him a wanker, I wish I could stay calm and take the moral high ground. Maybe I will one day. Well done I would love to have some self-control!

Ha ha, well done! Best response is to calmly show the rager that they are a tit and you are superior. Well done on your amazing strength of mind!
