To think 'liking' this photo really is the bloody limit? *distressing*

Today, I logged onto FB and a long term friend has 'liked' a photo under the caption of 'like if you are against aborting our baby girls'. The photo is a very clear and graphic photo of a foetus lying on a pink blanket, clearly dead.

I am horrified that this is being allowed to circulate. Can you imagine the distress to a recently bereaved mother? Or a woman who had had to go through an abortion?

Just the other day another friend 'liked' a photo entitled 'like if you wish child abuse didnt exist' coupled with a photo of a horrifically beaten child.

How is this acceptable? AIBU?

If the baby was pictured wrapped in a pink blanket, you can be pretty sure it's a photo of a much-wanted stillbirth, not a late term abortion.

Which is just awful for the person who took the photo Sad

YANBU I have stupid misguided friends who 'like' this sort of thing on facebook all the time. I have threatened to delete anyone who does like this awful stuff, this after one appeared on my fb of someone 'choking' a baby. A man had his hand round a babies neck and appeared to be choking it, the baby appeared blue. I think it was probably photo shopped but the caption was one like == 1 punch to the person chocking the baby. It was sick sick sick.

I really hate fb sometimes.

I started a thread about this the other day! It made me cry, I was so angry it had appeared on my news feed. I've deleted and blocked the person who liked it but I kinda wish I'd sent her a angry pm first but too late for that.

slatternlymother · 21/11/2012 18:27

holdme yes I think the baby was lying on a pink blanket, which immediately made me think it was probably a tragic still birth of a much loved and wanted after baby Sad

quietninja I didn't know if I'd be being unreasonable by firing off an angry message to this person (or anyone in future) who did this before deleting them?

This makes me very proud of my friends and family. Nothink like this ever appears on my feed Smile

QuietNinjaTardis · 21/11/2012 18:48

I don't think you'd be unreasonable at all. I wish I'd done it. If I see this person in rl and she tries to talk to me she will get a piece of my mind.

I had one pop up last year not long after I'd had a mc at 20 weeks, bloody awful

slatternlymother · 21/11/2012 18:57

Oh moomin I am so sorry for your loss Sad

I was just feeling grateful that I've never had anything like this appear on my Facebook page, when I logged on and discovered a picture of someone kicking a baby to death. That's going to haunt me tonight. :-( Apparently 'liking' the photo will show my support for at-risk children. And how, exactly, is this going to make a difference to anyone's life??? Time to defriend the culprit, maybe.

What I also hate are these "Share if you care about cancer/war/abused kids/anything. 90% of people won't share this." posts. As though liking a post will do anything for anyone.

Moominsarescary · 21/11/2012 21:20

Someone I'm friends with has had a picture of her dc's stolen and posted on someone else's profile.

This person is stealing people's baby photos and making racist remarks about them, bloody awful

GrendelsMum · 21/11/2012 21:35

Maybe the OP should contact her friend and let her know that it's probably someone's private photo of their still-born child, and that she should think twice about causing this material to circulate by 'liking' it?

Ghostsgowoooh · 21/11/2012 21:38

I did put on an angry ranty status about the pic I'd seen. I even went as far as calling the people who liked them idiots. Probably unreasonable but it's been a bit better since then. I just wish there was some way of blocking these photos but sadly I don't think there is
