To never make a round of tea at work

I started a new office job 4 weeks ago, in my old job no one made rounds of tea. Here they do, the department has 10 people (when everyone is in) and they will all make rounds (with junior members making most rounds ).

When asked if I want a drink I always say no. I dont drink tea or coffee and will just get a water when i want one. Not everyone will have a hot drink in a round sometimes they will just have a water too.

So AIBU/rude/anti social not to join in the rounds?

im in the same situation as you. i just say no to tea / coffee and if i do happen to want something i will get it for myself. my team do mention it, i ignore them. i have a bad memory and quite frankly cant be bothered to make everyone tea when.i should be working

Tea and coffee rounds are extremely frequent in my office, with slackers good humouredly pulled up and encouraged to take their turn. We would never expect non-drinkers to make a round!

YA definitely NBU.

YANBU, I was the same in one of my old jobs. I've never drunk tea or coffee, and didn't see why I should make everyone else drinks if the favour is never returned. Aside from that, having never drunk it, I haven't got the faintest idea how to make it so it doesn't taste like hell, and don't see an advantage in learning either.

Also, wrt being anti-social, why is it assumed that someone who doesn't make tea or coffee is sitting sullenly in the corner refusing to be polite/interact?? Did I miss the memo where you're not allowed to be friendly with people unless you're drinking tea or coffee with them??

I think it's ok not to make it as long as you are not asking for drinks. The ones that wind everybody up are those that ask for drinks yet never do a round.
