It seems to portray a very '1950's' vibe towards women IMO.

I'm not losing sleep over it, but it seems to be a rather demeaning and condescending advert.

OP do you work for Tesco / Sainsbury / the ad agency competing with the one that created the Asda ad and was keen to revive the polemic?

I remember when I was new and posted in AIBU, thankfully it was a mixed bag but I came to the conclusion I was being unreasonable. You have to have a thick skin to start a thread here which I've never done since MN has been a great support for me on other topics so I hope you don't leave OP before you have given it a chance.

She's just gone back to being quiet again and is reading all the posts from the last month before posting and carrying on the discussion. Duh.

It reminded me of my mum (she used to go all out for Xmas - she loves it and romanticized it trying to achieve the perfect Christmas ) but I agree it is sexist.

I am most proud of Df though - on first viewing of it and not aware of the mn discussion he said " so women are still slaves in 2012 ffs" as he felt it was sexist.

It is a fair reflection of Christmas in many people's houses. Not sexist at all.

Asda win the most talked about Christmas Advert for 2012. Not heard a peep about M&S or John Lewis. So sexist or not ( not seen it myself) it's a damn fine job by the ad agency unless everyone boycotts Asda
