Me and DP have been together nearly 7 years and although we're engaged, having 2 DCs we never pushed to get married, with the expense etc
Any way... My mum has been ill for a while, she has a rare blood disorder she was born with called Diamond blackfan. She's been having tests recently and although its come back that its NOT lukemia she has a condition that is pre-lukemia MDS and its just a waiting game of when it will become Lukemia.
so me and DP want to get married asap while she's still well enough. does any one have advice on how to get married cheaply and Quickly?

Sorry if this post is in the wrong place.

Dsis had one of the most fab weddings I've been too. Middle of Feb in Scotland.

Teeny church by a Loch. Friends as photographers and arrival by Landrover

Then reception in a local village hall (really cheap to hire for most places!) (which we decorated the day before).

She had caterers for the food (they also did a buffet for the disco /celidah) and a proper celidah band with a caller.

She bought all of her own booze and did a honesty bar. with recommended amounts to cover the cost. As it was a wedding and family and her friends didn't want to see her out of pocket people made sure they covered the cost of the drink, but it was still MUCH cheaper than posho hotel drinks (she actually made money on the bar!).

It was not overly expensive especially as it was so out of season.

Ahh, I couldnt get goldtops quick enough for my shotgun wedding mchappy, mine was in chepstow (another grey building). It was all booked and done in 8 weeks!

I didnt have a ohtographer, though now kind of wish I did. My sister had a friend of a friend art student as hers, paid her about £100 and gave her a meal and some wine too Grin

you may be able to tell that me and my sister were both rather tight when it came to our weddings!!

My dress was a maternity one (hence shotgun wedding) from seraphine for under £100, bridesmaids wore matching "normal" dresses. My sister got all of hers from ebay.

Next apparently have wedding shoes in the sale at the mo?

Favours, invites, placecards etc all home made

I loved my wedding - it wasn't quite such a small budget, but we did buy all the booze and feed people twice. We saved tons of money on making stuff, like invites, bunting etc... but you could go cheaper if you buy from WHSmiths etc.

The most money I saved had to be flowers. My chief BM and I went and cleaned out the local supermarket the night before, basing the descision purely on what I liked at the time, and bunged them in vases I'd collected from charity shops. We made all the bouquets too and everyone commented on how lovely the flowers were and I'm no florist cost about £100.

Also, my dress was an ex-sample which cost 1/4 the price of a new one. Meant I didn't worry too much about getting it filthy!

Good luck anyway!
