I have told ds that I am working Christmas Day, any how plans have changed and my lovely boss has giving me my AL request :)

I think it will be a huge surprise that I will be there for Christmas, but my husband thinks I am being mean by not telling him.

So over to the MN jury should I tell him or not :)

How old is he? Is he upset by the idea of you not being there?

shellshock7 · 08/11/2012 09:51

How old is he? First instinct is meanie!

DawnOfTheDee · 08/11/2012 09:52

I can see why you think it'd be a nice surprise but on balance I think I'd tell him. Otherwise he'll have another 6 weeks or so of thinking his mum's not going to be there.

How old is he btw?

RyleDup · 08/11/2012 09:52

Yes you should tell him.

McChristmasPants2012 · 08/11/2012 09:53

He is 6 and was disappointed when I told him.

Definitely tell him straight away. He might be really upset for no reason.

ObiWan · 08/11/2012 09:54

I'd probably tell him.

For my children, the run up to Christmas is exciting, and looking forward to things.

If your son can look forward to the day knowing that you'll be there, he might enjoy the run up more.

shellshock7 · 08/11/2012 09:55

At 6 I think you should defo tell him, he could be upset till Xmas day otherwise.

that kind of surprise is really for adults I think Smile

Haggisfish · 08/11/2012 09:55

Oh, tell him - the anticipation of lovely events together is half the fun of them!

McChristmasPants2012 · 08/11/2012 09:56

Looks like MN jury is in DH favour.

I will tell him tonight after parents evening

Exactly obi.

DawnOfTheDee · 08/11/2012 09:57

Oh yes, definitely tell him then. Otherwise we will get mnhq to change your name to McMeaniePants2012 Grin

Wallace · 08/11/2012 09:57

Tell him!

PuffPants · 08/11/2012 09:58

Tell him. It would be weird and mean not to. I can see where you're coming from but a child is not mature enough to get that. The news will still be a nice surprise today.

Wallace · 08/11/2012 09:58

Aw he will be so happy :)

Isandri · 08/11/2012 11:18

In the industry where I work plans can change at short notice. I would tell him closer to the time.

honeytea · 08/11/2012 11:29

What nice news that you can have Christmas at home, I'd definatly tell him :)

Floggingmolly · 08/11/2012 12:09

Tell him. Why would you let him fret for a whole month?

McChristmasPants2012 · 08/11/2012 19:00

I told him and he was over the moon :)

OP posts:
McChristmasPants2012 · 08/11/2012 19:01

Flogging I just imagined his face waking up and saying mummy is staying home.
