To wish there's more we can do about drug dealers next door :(

Since we moved in a year ago, our next door neighbours have ruined out lives. During the day, my DC's can't play outside because the man that lives there always has his friends hanging outside with their front door open, smoking weed, same in the back garden. Big intimidating groups of men in their early 20's -30s. It's not even so much the problem of the stench of weed, it's the people that it attracts to our street. I have an evening job and have had to change shifts because when I come home there are always men on bikes coming and going, hanging outside our gate. Then after about 11pm, there are always cars with blaring music coming and going and waking our baby up. They don't even make it discreet what they're doing, shouting how much someone owes down the street and handing stuff in cars etc.

I'm totally fed up of it! I reported it to the police so many times and they said that I just have to keep calling, so that if they drive past and see it enough times, they can gain intelligence. I know that everytime i've called, no ones come. None of them work, they just sit outside making our lives hell and atracting people to the street. DP doesn't want to call the police any more because he feels intimidated. I can't believe there is nothing we can do!

We had drug dealers a few doors down years ago. It was so obvious what was happening. Eventually they got BUSTED big time! We hung out of our windows watching the whole thing Grin

In addition to the other advice focus on the end of your contract and move the hell out of there. Count down the days before you can start looking, it might help you to cope with the stress.

We had this, a new neighbour moved in just after DD1 was born and all of a sudden there was none stop traffic, dodgy looking people and the strong smell of weed, we were not happy. I was a new Mum, home alone all day and frankly a bit scared! We thought about letting their landlord know but I was a bit worried it would get back that it was us...he was a tad scary looking. Instead we contacted crimestoppers. They got back in touch and asked us to keep a diary of cars we saw, times etc. We got this back to them and within a week, next door had been raided and the dealer dragged off. It then came to light that several other neighbours had done the same thing, all anonymously via crimestoppers. If you've got all the details already it might be worth a try, you certainly can't lose anything by doing it.

Our drug dealer neighbour was eventually evicted by neighbours complaining to the housing association that let his house to him.

He had caused a lot of damage to the house though so I don't know if it was more to do with that.

I sympathise. I felt the same. We had blacked out 4x4s arriving all times of the day and night with some scary looking people hanging around. Constant groups of men hanging outside the front door. I didn't feel I could let my dc out to play. Occasionally there'd be fights. Towards the end the tenant barricaded himself in the house by nailing planks of wood over all the doors and windows. At 5am in the morning he'd start bashing them off with a hammer in order to leave the house.

Are you able to find out who lets the property?

Margey I agree entirely with Quote. You've reported it enough times and nothing's changed, so up the anti and inform your local MP (it's their job to deal with their constituents' concerns after all) and the Police Commissioner. This can't be allowed to go on.
