To think Nadine Dorries

Was expelled as an MP less to do with I'm a Celebrity and more to do with the comment regarding Dave and George 'they are two posh boys who don't know the price of milk'. They were just waiting for the opportunity to rid thenselves of this woman who speaks the truth.

I recently wrote to my MP on a planning issue and recieved a reply within 10 days.

DH emailed our MP on a matter relating to pensions (his former company had misinterpreted a govenment directive and was about to change terms). The MP checked up on the law pertaining to the issue and emailed back the same day. (A tory MP backing the rights of workers against company greed!)

Dorries is a the sort of egotistical type who thinks she knows what's good for everyone else - she's not interested in representing her constituency, she's interested in self-promotion. Hopefully this silly stunt will show her up for what she is.

"she's not interested in representing her constituency, she's interested in self-promotion. Hopefully this silly stunt will show her up for what she is. "

^ this^

mignonette · 07/11/2012 10:14

Fact is, she knows her days are numbered both on a constituency and party level and it is sad that she feels this is a 'career step' for her.

I pity her.

StiffyByng · 07/11/2012 10:29

I think constituency work and presence is more important than attendance at Westminster.

MamaMary · 07/11/2012 10:31

Anyone who ups and leaves their job for a month or more to swan off and take part in a reality TV programme deserves to be more than suspended. They deserve to be sacked.

Can you imagine if a teacher, or a nurse or a doctor did this??

YABU.

frostyfingers · 07/11/2012 12:07

I think it shows appalling disregard for her constituents - never mind the head honchos in London - the very least she can do is get on and work for them since they're (well some of them) are the ones that gave her the job. She's not a "celebrity" she's meant to be an MP. I would be absolutely livid if she was my MP.

KellyElly · 07/11/2012 12:54

*Nadine Dorries? A woman who speaks the truth?

shock

No, Nadine Dorries is a nasty, sly, woman-hating, patronizing waste of space.* I meant in relation to Cameron and Osbourne being so out of touch with the majority of the population and her scepticism about his qualities as Prime Minister not in general - I don't support her or the Conservatives views and policies and I don't think there are many politicians who could be described as truthful by any stretch of the imagination :)

LRDtheFeministDragon · 07/11/2012 13:02

I know you did - I just wanted to rant about her!

She's right they're out of touch idiots.

Woozley · 07/11/2012 13:10

I don't like her but I think the whips office has massively overreacted and the story is now about their reaction instead of the spotlight being on her. Daft sods.

gwenniebee · 07/11/2012 13:15

If I zotted off from my job for a month I'd be lucky if it was just suspension I got! She's bats.

KellyElly · 07/11/2012 13:19

LDR haha fair enough rant away :)

OP posts:
Unacceptable · 07/11/2012 13:19

She has merely been suspended though-meaning if the public hate her and she doesn't do the government any favours in the popularity stakes she'll no longer be an MP, but if she wins over the public and becomes a bit of a 'darling' her position will be safe.

She should have been sacked immediately for all the reasons stated above but Cameron and co are playing it safe in the hope that she comes across well.

Who on earth can swan off from an important position with no conversation with superiors and retain their post?

LRDtheFeministDragon · 07/11/2012 13:21

Thanks! Blush Grin

An awful lot of politicians get on my nerves. Probably exactly the same lot as for you!

MooncupGoddess · 07/11/2012 13:25

According to Nadine, she has decided to spend a month eating caterpillars and squabbling with Z list 'celebs' purely in order to persuade the British public of the merits of her plans to limit abortion. Er...

KellyElly · 07/11/2012 13:38

God knows why anyone would want to go on that programme. I feel sorry for the bugs :(

OP posts:
frostyfingers · 07/11/2012 13:52

She's completely deluded if she thinks that people will like their MP's if they do things like this. Having said that, in the jungle, a long way away from here is probably quite a good place for her to be.......shame there won't be anything to keep her there!

laughtergoodmedicine · 07/11/2012 14:34

scrambled. Yes political lingo is funny. They have men in black tights enforcing rules in House of Commons.

Dorries is an interesting. sideline. It is true many Tory MPs have second jobs. I used to say MP stood for Moneymaking Potential.

Chubfuddler · 07/11/2012 16:06

For those saying she should have been sacked immediately it is actually virtually impossible to remove a sitting MP from office. She has effectively been sacked from the Conservative party which is fully deserved.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 07/11/2012 17:23

YY chufuddler. However if her constituency party asks her to resign when she returns, I think it would take some chutzpah not to do so.

Viviennemary · 07/11/2012 17:28

Can't see why she has kept her job as an MP. Who can go swanning off to make extra money when they should be at work. Oh MP's can.

MrsHoarder · 07/11/2012 17:39

She may well not keep her job as a Conservative MP, but anyone who vanished from work would get a meeting with no coffee before being sacked.

And its intentionally impossible to remove a sitting MP from office, to ensure that constituents' don't have their candidate kicked out because the rest of parliament doesn't like them. Most MPs want to be reelected so behave responsibly in spite of this.

MulledWineOnTheBusLady · 07/11/2012 18:42

Hard to say. She's such a toxic loon Cameron could have all manner of legitimate reasons to be glad to be rid of her, rather than just that comment. I don't get the impression she has that many friends among her fellow MPs, and most of those who work with her on her particular causes seem to consider her a bit of an embarrassment.

reallyboredatwork · 07/11/2012 18:59

Leave the bastard

taxi4ballet · 01/02/2013 19:23

I am one of her constituents. I needed to contact my delightful MP recently (aren't I lucky to have Nadine) and guess what - I got a reply saying sorry, she can't help me in any way. The reply was sent to me by email at the Houses of Parliament and from her DAUGHTER.

Isn't that nice, being able to spend public money employing your own family.
