Finish the top first you heathen.

Grr.

Bogeyface · 02/11/2012 00:41

A bowl?

Shit, those chavs get in everywhere dont they? Wink

Bogeyface · 02/11/2012 00:41

FYI

Milk Tray are currently £3ish for a big box at Co-op at the mo!

ICutMyFootOnOccamsRazor · 02/11/2012 00:42

Eh? Doesn't anyone else eat all the nice ones from the bottom first then transfer the manky ones from the top downwards so that the bottom looks full?

Grin
Bogeyface · 02/11/2012 00:47

And no whistling either!

I tend to eat the ones I like off the top layer and offer around the ones I dont like! THe kids will eat anything chocolate related so that deals with the Turkish Delight ones (seriously, who likes that? Apart from my weird 7 yr old DS!), the honey filled ones and the praline/truffle ones. Thus leaving all the lovely creams and hazelnut ones on the bottom layer for me!

VerySmallSqueak · 02/11/2012 00:49

That's reprehensable reprehenible terrible ICutMyFoot Shock

TalcAndTurnips · 02/11/2012 00:51

However - I DO think that - when sharing a large bag of Revels with one's dearly beloved - it is permissible to decant into two bowls, otherwise the greedy fecker DH's significantly faster consumption rate means that he scoffs about 75% of Revels, leading to scowly face scenario. Hmm

AdoraBell · 02/11/2012 00:56

Ah, this is a grey area really. It's been a long time since I've been given a box of chocs with 2 layers, but generally speaking if the caramels have been taken from the top by someone else then I am fully justified in delving into the depths to retrieve the other ones. OH would be on thin ice though.

BitBewildered · 02/11/2012 00:57

I am fussy about chocolates. I eat what I like from both layers then hand the box, disdainfully, to DH to distribute.

wtf1981 · 02/11/2012 02:43

Uh oh,I do that! Only really like ones with nuts and always avoid fruit/cream/alcohol ones. . . Sorry :)

Iteotwawki · 02/11/2012 02:56

YABU. I am horribly allergic to nuts and so if the only ones left on the top layer contain nuts, I have to start the bottom layer.

I also start transferring the revolting nutty ones down as I make space on the bottom! And I adore Turkish delight :)

ripsishere · 02/11/2012 03:21

I can't remember the last time I had a box of chocolates. don't really like it TBH.
I do like turkish delight, coffee and orange and strawberry creams though.

HecatePhosphorus · 02/11/2012 07:17

Bugger that.

I snaffle the lovely ones and then take horrible things like cherry vomit or whatever they are and put them into the empty spaces on the bottom layer.

[unapologetic]

HecatePhosphorus · 02/11/2012 07:18

Oh, and I tell the kids that certain ones my favourites contain gluten and that's why they can't have them Blush

RustyBear · 02/11/2012 07:21

What Hecate said...

jimmenycricket · 02/11/2012 07:21

Chaos you have my sympathy. While I was in hospital giving birth to my daughter my MiL started the chocolates my mother had bought me to make me feel better. Angry

My daughter is seven. I'm still pissed off about it.

MadamFolly · 02/11/2012 11:48

A bowl?!?!

That is the devil's work surely?

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 02/11/2012 12:44

Dh seriously got a ticking off for bad chocolate box etiquette. To my mind half of the fun is choosing what to have, seeing what's available, selecting one...he grabs the nearest one to him which is my favourite inhalers it, then says "it was ok, wouldn't have it again though"
Shock

nkf · 02/11/2012 12:45

Very bad form. Shocking. Unless it was only the nougat and montelimar left.

yellowsubmarine53 · 02/11/2012 12:48

Oh, YES. People who just take one without perusing the contents sheet.

Heathens, who should only be allowed Freddo the Frogs imvho.

It's all right for me to start on the bottom layer of my box of chocolates but not all right for anyone else to do so.

Chocolate papers back in the tin is very poor behaviour, indeed.

BeatTheClock · 02/11/2012 12:53

'Go wild! Tip them into a bowl.' Shock

Dear oh dear that's gambling with the order of the universe and no mistake. There are rules you know!

How, may I ask, would you be able to peruse the 'menu' on the lid and match the choccy to find out what it is?! Or are you one of these people who live dangerously and pop in a choccy willy nilly without knowing what it is. God I feel faint at the thought of so much abandon.

Ooops, I always sneak the orange cremes from the bottom layer before I've finished the top.

Slaps own wrists Grin

cairnterrier · 02/11/2012 12:56

There is no place in a box of chocolates for anything coffee flavoured. Competely unnecessary IMHO.

Always remember the inherent frisson of danger with Turkish Delight though - remember Edmund and the White Witch in Narnia?
