to not mind at all when people play their lives out on FB?

I wouldnt do it myself, I barely post anything on there at the best of times so I certainly wouldnt post the details of my latest row with H or whatever!

But I have no issue with those that do, as it makes for very entertaining reading! My cousin was outed as a cheat by his GF a few years back on FB, which I thought he deserved and he took it quite well considering! And my BIL is currently playing out his marriage break up on there with his "STBX" posting long rambling passive aggressive replies to his long rambling passive aggressive messages! Think lots of "It hurts so much when you think that you know someone and then you find out that you dont know them at all....." type stuff. They are both drama llamas and always have been so this latest "breakup" will probably go the same as all the others and they will be all over each other again in a month or so Hmm

But in the meantime, I am hooked! I have been on FB more in the last 2 days than in the previous 6 months :o

I think FB is really sad tbh and symptomatic of our new thinking where we imagine the minutiae of our lives is interesting. I think playing out the bigger issues such as relationship break-ups and pregnancy/birth etc is just spectacularly vulgar. But I am old and grumpy and value my privacy. I would rather stick pins in my eyes than do a bit of Face Booking et al.

stifnstav · 29/10/2012 10:40

A girl I went to school with posts photos of herself in her bra. It is very entertaining.

Bogeyface · 29/10/2012 10:40

I dont have a pretentious one, I would quite like that!

Brandy I value my privacy, but I am very appreciative of the people who dont value theirs :o

I do have one friend on there who posts really pretentious arty black and white pics of him and his girlfriend in their undercrackers. I'm embarrassed for them

and me Grin I have a pretentious friend she is hilarious Oh I really think you get what you pay for when you go for the'better' brands

Dogsmom · 29/10/2012 10:59

I delete the ones who post banal things every hour like ' taking the dog for a walk' ' just walked the dog' ' going to buy a cabbage' 'just got back from buying a cabbage'.

I keep the ones who air their laundry though lol.

Although if they're cryptic I delete, I can't bear those who put vague statuses just so people will ask what's up then they either don't elaborate or say 'pm me'.

pictish · 29/10/2012 11:01

Yanbu - I don't have nearly enough people who play it all out on fb, on my friends list.

freddiefrog · 29/10/2012 11:06

The vague ones make me laugh, it's just a ploy to get a lot of 'what's up hun' replies.

DH got himself into trouble for replying 'either shit or get off the bog' to one of those once

Mrsjay · 29/10/2012 11:08

I also have the what I call the Wailing friend where everything is a clutch at the heart moment, 'I slept in this morning OMG the children will get into so much trouble for being late for school my poor babies don't deserve that ' (actual status )

Mrsjay · 29/10/2012 11:09

I am I just walked the dog friend, I wonder how many people have me hidden Blush

Bogeyface · 29/10/2012 11:10

Mrs didnt it occur to her that she would have saved time by not posting on FB?!

you would think eh Hmm

shesariver · 29/10/2012 11:14

YANBU, I just love it - but I love FB generally as Im well nosey curious about others.

My favourite place for a good old slanging match is the local FB selling pages, you can get a real whopper over 50p DVDs on there

YY saw a cracker on one once when someone took exception to the amount someone was charging for something and pointed out you could get it cheaper in Argos - it was all downhill from there! [hgrin]

AmberLeaf · 29/10/2012 11:17

Many an entertaining hour or two is provided by those sorts!

Most of them are not my friends though, just friends of friends or randoms with lax fb privacy settings.

Ive seen some corkers over the last few years, they are utterly shameless.

Cant stand the vague 'poor me' ones though. freddiefrog your DH rocks! Grin

I love a good fb fight. Warms me up inside.

ProbablyDoingTheWrongThing · 29/10/2012 12:06

I love it, it's like earwigging on the neighbours with the luxury of being able to hear every word !

TunipTheHollowVegemalLantern · 29/10/2012 12:07

I particularly like it when couples communicate with each other via FB, whether to be soppy or to have rows.

Iodine · 29/10/2012 12:12

My family member's husband is the worst. The other day we had "Thanks to xxx for helping out with the chaos the other day and helping x(family member) and baby get to hospital".

WHY would you put that?! Why not pop a card through the door for them instead of worrying all the family who are thousands of miles away that something bad has happened?!

Ruprekt · 29/10/2012 12:16

I wouldnt mind if mine did post the whole of their lives on FB - as you say, interesting reading. However, the ones who write.

'THE WORST HAS HAPPENED.....................'

Read 58 comments and NEVER ACTUALLY FIND OUT WTF HAS HAPPENED are the ones that annoy me!!

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 29/10/2012 12:19

ooh yes, i love it
the best ones are when I don't even know the person, but can only see the post because a mutual friend has commented on it

FayeKinitt · 29/10/2012 13:42

I've de registered my account but I have to say I'm missing the status updates! I think my favourite was a girl I went to Uni with -

Mon - Going on the Atkins diet < lots of guff about how great it is >
Tue - Kebab with DF! Nom nom!
Wed - Am so sick of havin' no money! We don't get fucking paid enough!
Thu - Starting the Slim fast diet today! Gonna loose all that weight and be skinny by Christmas!
Fri - Going out on the lash with the girlies!
Sat - Hungover. Thank God Mam has the kids!
Sun - Mega skint. So sick of workin hard when theirs ppl on benefits gettin' a fuck load of money for sittin on their fat arses.

Actually, scratch that. I'm so glad I don't have FB anymore...
