I won't here a word against them (unless they run out of Green Garden Refuse Bags when I've gone out of my way to buy them.)

When my DD was toilet training and loved using public toilets Confused she insisted she needed the loo in the library and couldn't possibly wait to cross the road (we would have used the pub loo in an emergency)

One of the staff allowed her to use the Staff Toilet (there are no public ones) which was very considerate of them.
Though I did tell DD she couldn't do that next time Grin

Our uni librarians get a lot of stick especially when people get fines which are always their fault. I was constantly paying fines last year and the librarian joked that I was single handedly financially propping up the university. It was my fault, so I paid and laughed. Poor ladies, they're always getting shouted at by entitled students all the time!

I was once sent a fine for a book that I had never taken out...

The librarians were very helpful in correcting the mistake.

One week later they fined me again for the same book Angry

It's ridiculous this social worker bashing.

There have been a couple of trolly-types bumping old posts to attack social workers. And I suspect many of the threads come from the same source.

They come straight from the Ian Josephs school of fuckwittery Angry

But don't get me started on librarians and sticking to rules.

dd lost a book. Yes I know she lost a book and I'm very sorry. But either let me replace the book, or give you a fiver for the book. Don't add up the cost of the fines and tell me that I have to give you ?10.75 and still return the book (which is lost).

It has stopped her going to the library for over a year Sad.

It gives people a change from teacher bashing, I suppose. That usually starts again after the holidays.

I have massive admiration for the teaching profession (as a whole).

It doesn't stop me from complaining (rarely) about individual crap teachers.

That's the problem here - instead of threads being about one particular incompetent social worker/teacher/librarian, people just do a general (and unfair) rant.

Oi!

I prefer to swish my hair around whilst peering under my glasses to read my kindle. And I've never shushed anyone - only ever been shushed by a library user. The cheek!

Ooooh! (looks around nervously) are nurses off the menu this week? Good-oh! [hgrin] (am a nurse)

Now - Librarians - tchhh! they are just Sooooo.. erm - well they tell people to be quiet innit?

Ds2 had norovirus last year, and when he did his head spinning 360' whilst vomiting scene - straight from the exorcist - he managed to cover his library book.

Imagine my disgust when I told librarian it had been norovirused, and she smiled sympathetically and said "Oh! there's a lot of it going about - don't worry - is he feeling better now?" I offered to bring it in as proof and all! this is what we pay our taxes for - tchh!

Besides - it's MY job to say " yes - there's a lot of it going about..." She was clearly working beyond her remit...
