To think it's time the state took back control of the utility companies

i am in no way a communist, i really am not, but when your electric costs will now take over 14% of your joint income, something has to be done.

edf has joined the ever growing number of greedy companies and have just announced a 10.8% increase in charges as from december, that will add over £120 to the average bill per year.

how can the government allow these companies to continue to charge what ever they like for comodities that we need simply to exist.

Then there's the great petrol/diesel rip off.

YANBU

When the wholesale price of gas goes up they pass the increased costs onto the customers, when the wholesale price goes down our gas bill is never reduced.

Considering all the utility companies charge pretty much roughly the same amount then they are working as a cartel and I was under the impression that this was illegal. OFGEM are frigging useless.

Well they are actually becoming state owned again.
EDF is French state owned, so their profits support French taxpayers.
There are other examples.

YABU. You clearly don't remember the days of nationalised utilities. Crappy service, huge bills and zero investment. Don't go back there, it was shite.

FYI: If you go onto the 'blue' edf rate your prices are fixed and so won't increase.

I switched our energy account to.... EDF
Luckily we are on Blue Price Promise and our prices won't increase.
