AIBU to think that one piece of cabin handbaggage should mean exactly that?

Just back from a mid-week city break, treated myself to a nice new expensive handbag. Packed everything else into my suitcase which I checked into the hold, so all I was carrying onboard was my new bag in the cardboard bag from the shop. I was amazed at the number if people with massive "cabin" bags PLUS a large handbag. No-one was asked to place their case in the cage, nor confronted about having 2 pieces of hand baggage. The attendant asked if she could place my bag on top of cases as they were struggling for locker space, I said OK but please not to crush my bag, needless to say my lovely new bag is creased on one corner and I'm fuming. Why don't airlines enforce their rules?

LOL at the fridge! Used my bag last night and have got over the 'crush incident' now it's not a virgin! A few glasses of wine makes minor irritations disappear!

Never fly Aeroflot with a new handbag. I was on a flight about 15 years ago and someone carried on a motorcycle engine...

I flew Easyjet recently & there was so much cabin baggage that they were asking people to check it in for no cost.

I only had a rucksack (with handbag inside!) which I though was too flimsy to be slung about.

I had to laugh though-it says that you should be able to put your luggage in the overhead lockers yourself-Ha!

OK-someone make me tall enough to reach, then...

I agree, people really take the mickey. But I hold the unpopular view that people should be weighed with all the luggage.

I flew with Ryanair this summer for the first time. Never again

However, they let me on with 1 big rucksack and a big handbag. I did have a baby so maybe they felt sorry for me or something

I'm sure the crease will come out - expensive leather handbags don't permanently crease. I would have insisted it stay under seat for take off and 'sat it up' on the floor under my legs - you know, as though it had been pushed too far forward by the person behind - for the duration of the flight.

Hope crease disappears soon Smile

The motorcycle engine is odd, but doesn't trump the fridge! I seem to remember reading about a corpse being wheeled onto a plane once and placed in the seat.
Not sure about being weighed, especially on the way back from holiday, it would make me very grumpy finding out how much I'd gained...
