She's now 10 days overdue!! Actually, I am lucky in that she's not making me feel that physically uncomfortable but I am getting annoyed at EVERYONE constantly texting/FB'ing to ask if I'm having contractions yet or if there is any news!!!! As if DH and I would (or could) keep her arrival a secret for more than 5 mins when she does appear Smile

phone mat ward and see if you can pop in for your check up there, or if someone can call out to see you. They offered me this service when I couldn't get an appt with MW at GP

TennisFan42 · 25/10/2012 16:15

Induction is at 40 + 12.

Just spoken to triage line who said GP can do sweep as MW isn't around. Phoned surgery back and idiot receptionist didn't seem to grasp that sweep needed to happen BEFORE the induction date ARRGH! Then when she finally got it she was worrying that sweep would mean baby would arrive instantly (I wish!) and need delivering at surgery. FFS!!

Also our midwifes advice was to have sex and position yourself pelvis up (maybe on cushions) so the prostaglandins in sperm stay at the cervix and help to bring baby on

gwenniebee · 25/10/2012 16:18

Oh poor you :( I sympathise hugely! My dd was 12 days overdue when she finally arrived in July. We dodged induction by an hour - I was booked in at 8am and my waters went at 7. Every day feels like a lifetime, doesn't it? I promise it is worth it in the end though! Good luck :)

PS That receptionist sounds like a right ninny!

Iceaddict · 25/10/2012 16:20

It won't be long anyway, try to take your mind off it if you can, I'm off before I get broody!

ScrambledSmegsEvilTwin · 25/10/2012 16:21

Got a scrubbing brush? Got a front step, or even better, a tiled floor in your home? Get down on hands and knees - preferably not in front of husband if pervy - and scrub like mad Grin

My midwife swears it works. Personally I'm doubtful, but at least your floor will be nice and clean.

Figgygal · 25/10/2012 16:21

No I was 12 days over when induced it drove me mad!!!!! I still might be actually

ScrambledSmegsEvilTwin · 25/10/2012 16:22

And THEN, of course, your waters will go all over your nice clean floor...

IHeartKingThistle · 25/10/2012 16:26

a glass of champagne kicked it off for me

A glass of wine got me going too.

But Id been having contractions on and off for 3 days.

Sweeps are usually useless anyway but I really know how you feel.

Good luck.

TennisFan42 · 25/10/2012 16:53

Surgery has just called back and doctor won't do the sweep so we are back on the phone to the hospital. Feel like we are being pushed from pillar to post.

Nothing more we can do tonight. Have been given the community midwife number for tomorrow morning.

Can you book yourself in for an appointment - hair, nails etc something you really really would like to do tomorrow because according to sod's law that will guarantee labour starts.

Good luck.

CreamOfTomatoSoup · 25/10/2012 19:19

I feel your pain. Why do people feel the need to constantly text asking whether the baby has been born yet. I'D FUCKING TELL YOU IF I'D HAD IT!!!!

If I have another baby I will a) be vague about the due date and b) lie a bit. So if it's actually due on the 5th February I'd say 'late February' whenever anyone asks me when it's due.

It'll be out soon. Good luck!

McHappyPants2012 · 25/10/2012 19:28

nothing worked for me either, induced 2 weeks over.

my hair was lovely for the birth though :)

TennisFan42 · 26/10/2012 08:53

Spoke to the community midwife team this morning and booked in for a second sweep at the hospital tomorrow afternoon. I almost think it's pointless at this stage as due to be induced sunday morning Sad. I had hoped to have the baby on the midwife-led unit at the hospital (which can't happen if they start it by induction) but I know we can't always have things the way we want.
