Why does the voiceover for many adverts say for example two nine nine instead of £299? Do they think people don't get numbers or something? Or is it to do with time, quicker to omit the "hundred" or whatever? I'm not about to let it keep me awake at night DS2 will do that! but it does annoy somewhat!

That's one of my pet hates as well.
I struggle to work out the actual amount when it's said two nine nine.
I need the hundreds, thousands and millions to be said.

Maybe there's a psychological element 2,9,9 sounds less than 2 hundred and ninety nine. This idea could be complete crap though

It sounds cheaper so more people will buy - there must be research to back this up
