and I have to put more fucking lights on to be able to actually see thus negating their supposed low energy usage. educate me please if I am incorrect

What I hate is the way they've started labelling the power output in 'lumens''. Wtf is a lumen I ask you?

a lumen is the amount of light the lamps produce which is the correct way to label them, lamps that use for example 100 watts may only produce 5-10 watts of light energy the rest is wasted as heat.

whizmum, this ebay link will identify the LED replacement lamps you need, the 60watt halogen is replaced with a 4watt LED which gives the same light but no heat and last a lot longer.

Last week I bought a replacement low energy bulb for the last old style one I had left. When did they get so expensive? £3 for one 100w equivalent. The last time I bought one they were about 20p

LED light bulbs will replace all low energy bulbs soon. They are improving rapidly and getting cheaper.

Soo we will all have LED panels in our ceilings which will show blue sky and sun shine in your room lighting everything beautifully but that is a few yeas away. You will also have LED windows whuch will be able to give you a view of the SYdney Opera house from Skegness. Some shops are using them already to have moving adverts while still being able to see into the shop.

If you cant wait for LED bulbs to improve go for a Daylight low energy bulb, much brighter quicker than standard.
