I am trying to get back in touch with someone I worked with many years ago and have had no joy on Facebook or friends reunited as he has a very common name and I can't be sure I have the right person.
I want to use the electoral roll to find him,but dh thinks this is weird and in his words"stalker-ish"
Surely lots of people use this method to find long lost friends etc and there is nothing weird about it.

I think that you asked the wrong question, tbh.

You have asked how we would feel if another woman went to these lengths to find our partner.

How would you feel if another woman did this to your DP and he declared that he was so happy because he had found his 'best friend' again?

I don't think that you will get the reception that you hope for.

Do you find yourself listening to a certain Adele song a lot Grin.

I think ad in paper sounds more stalkerish than electoral roll personally....

SoleSource · 23/10/2012 22:57

I found somebody via electoral roll. Not stalkerish at all!

Confused

Erm ... how not?!

thetrackisback · 23/10/2012 23:05

192.com is a stalkers dream!! It includes electoral roll info as well as phone directory, birth marriages and death inf!! All on the t'internet.

MrsKeithRichards · 23/10/2012 23:06

I'm Grin at ad in paper, that's fucking crazy!

Is he a suspected baby daddy? If so try Jeremy Kyle.

Is it John Smith? He's living down the road I've heard.

Leaving aside the question of why you're so desperate! If it was a work situation then LinkedIn? After a long career break I used it to track down and ask for references from previous bosses. I also built up a nice set of connections that show that i really did work in that industry. My current employers did search on me there.

It's not for "friends" so don't leave chatty messages for all to see but you can track people down, if slowly. I did with a couple of old friends.

MrsKeithRichards · 23/10/2012 23:11

Is linkedin just for proper business types?

Does friendsreunited even still exist?

ENormaSnob · 23/10/2012 23:14

I think it's weird and stalkery.

I would be majorly creeped out if an old colleague tracked me down on the electoral roll.

SoleSource · 23/10/2012 23:16

Public dociment. Asjed private detective to trace wanted to charge almost £400. Do not see what problem is. I mean no harm.
