called horrible histories having a "free gift" of a kit to make one look like a "disgusting" peasant.

Kit includes uneven / discoloured teeth, nose with a spot on it, fake warts and fake scars. Kid are supposed to become "disgusting" when wearing these.

I do not like the idea that children may then see anyone that has these medical conditions for real and have been given a message by tv programme /magazine that they are "disgusting".

I work with a young man with severe scarring from injuries and acne who also has discoloured teeth form all the nedication hs has to take so I know that I may well be rather more sensitive than some other people might be....

this is my first ever post in here so I guess you could say I feel strongly about it !!!

In fact it could be suggested that you are the one being unreasonable for associating this young man with the items that make up this peasant pack-

I don't even know what to say to this thread. The things people get worked up about Confused

mrsfuzzy · 23/10/2012 11:21

i'm regarded as having mental health problems as i have bipolar but i don't get offended over people saying 'brain storming' 'going loony'etc but i don't find those expressions offensive although the pc brigade would speak up for me, i'm ok with it, but i can see how some people would object, thanks but i don't need to be told what i might find offensive.

mrsfuzzy · 23/10/2012 11:22

p.s absolutley adore ben willbond, he can adminster my medication any day!

AMumInScotland · 23/10/2012 11:26

Have you actually asked what the young man at work thinks about this? Or are you just assuming that it would offend and upset him? Most people with a disability etc would rather that people spoke to them directly and got their input, rather than making decisions about issues from a position of "offended ignorance"

lisaro · 23/10/2012 11:29

Hmmm............. ok, that's the pirate outfit shelved in case Abu Hamza is offended.

TheCraicDealer · 23/10/2012 11:35

Unless your workmate also walks around with a rat under his arm (also included in free gift) and maggots sticking to him I would find it hard to see a link between him and a medieval peasant to be honest.

imnotmymum · 23/10/2012 12:32

Sorry but I am giggling a little bit OP

scentednappyhag · 23/10/2012 12:38

My teeth are wonkier than a very wonky thing, I'm very spotty for two weeks a month, and I have a number of visable scars. I'm not offended about the costume though Smile
Unless it was marketed as 'Isn't Scented so ugly, dress up as her', it's not in any way personal enough to upset me.

mrsfuzzy · 23/10/2012 12:48

we all have scars and imperfections of some sort, we collect them through the journey if life now ladies if you are seating comfortably i'll tell you all about my operation and the resulting scar.... quite gory really, ratteus ratteus would love it [for the uninitiated, he's the commentater on HH] is it just me or has matt bayton got come to bed eyes??

carocaro · 23/10/2012 15:01

Context OP context, the HH things is all about history, it's brilliant and children love it. If a child ran up to someone with a scar and shouted disgusting, that would be wrong. But children don't do that and HH does not make them do that. You are fighting a battle you won't win. Stop being an adult and be a child, totally different perspective.
