AIBU to find certain cutesy shortening of words slightly vomit inducing

I thoroughly dislike people using "baby" language to DS - he doesn't need you to put on a silly voice and talk about an ickly blankie, he knows it's called a blanket.

I do however, taking my cue from him, refer to Scotch Eggs as "Cheggs"

I was walking my dog and said to him "look at the quack quacks, crashdoggie". Then, I visibly cringed, looked around me to make sure no one had heard and swiftly exited the park.

Where my mum and dad live, "baby" is shortened to "bab". It makes my skin crawl. It's a baby, what's wrong with a nice word like baby?

DH calls mushrooms shrooms. I don't eat them so I don't talk about them much.
