To not get MIL a Christmas present this year

Given that DH and I have just spent £200 buying her a mobility scooter?

She was here yesterday and we told her we weren't getting her one and she seemed ok with it. She has just called DH regarding something else and had a right go at him about the lack of present.

She is already coming here for her dinner on Christmas Day, I bend over for her by doing what she wants for dinner rather than my family's traditions so I think she is just going to have to suck it up and stop acting like a spoilt child!

And remind her of the scooter in case she forgotten

SoupDragon · 23/10/2012 07:35

she was fine when she left yesterday.

No she wasn't. She was being polite.

Seriously, how dare someone, who has just had 200 notes spent on them, say it's not OK for them to miss out on a present at Christmas? I cannot fathom it, none of my family would behave in such a despicable way when someone has been so nice.
She's a cantankerous old cow, bollocks to her.

It's October. I'd be a bit disappointed if you told me in October that I wasn't getting anything for Christmas.

Love the suggestions for naff token presents, particularly the fugly blanket. Or perhaps a fluffy pink steering wheel cover?

diddl · 23/10/2012 09:03

Really?

Are adults really so bothered about getting a present on Christmas Day?

I´ve very, very odd then.

I love to see my kids get what they want.

I love to be with my husband & kids on CD.

That´s it for me.

Babyrabbits · 23/10/2012 09:09

Is she five....

justmyview · 23/10/2012 09:14

Bit mean not to give her anything, when other people will have presents to open. I think you should give her a token present - if she moans about it, tough

diddl · 23/10/2012 09:29

Yup, Christmas Day-it´s all about the presents, isn´t it??

OP-you are so mean how dare you spend 200GBP on her & then let her have the thing before Christmas so that she can get the use of it straight away if necessary?

Shame on you.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions/responces. Some of you do make me Grin

I will hunt down a cheap tartan lap blanket I think, or something scooter related. Maybe matching leather jackets for her and her friends with "hells angels" on the back for when they are out and about together.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again Grin

Buy her a pair of slippers and a dildo. If she doesn't like the slippers, she can go f**k herself!

What about the tinsel pink and purple tassels which go at the end of the handle bars?!
