Ok so this might sound totally pathetic and more than a bit crazy but please bear with me. I have some pretty massive anxiety issues and these all come to a head when DD (4) is ill. So tonight I'm sat here by her bedside for the second night running, worrying to the point of making myself physically ill....all over a simple cold and because she was sick once this morning! Which when you take into account the fact she's fast asleep might seem a bit odd.

Thing is though, it's like I have to constantly check her temperature, that she's breathing, etc or I go into a full panic attack. I know how pathetic this must sound to any of you who have actually had to go through illnesses with your children, and I really do apologise.

So I wondered if anyone fancied distracting me, seeing as I must have read every post on here in the last 48 hours and the refresh button is starting to complain! Either that or give me a kick up the arse and slap me with a wet kipper!

err.. 4 of spades then.

TheOneWithTheHair · 21/10/2012 20:36

Am I supposed to be pming my card?

A laminator sounds great if you're sure she can't burn her fingers. I don't know how they work. It might drive the rest of the household mad as she laminates everything she can get her hands on. Maybe a scrap booking kit instead?

Nixea · 21/10/2012 20:37

Oh hell..now that really is quite spooky! If it wasn't dark in here I could show you the scribble on the paper next to me saying 4 of spades! How?!

OP posts:
Minimammoth · 21/10/2012 20:37

I would like a laminator for Christmas.

TheOneWithTheHair · 21/10/2012 20:37

Crap. I'm so slow. Not 6 of hearts or 4 of spades for me.

TheOneWithTheHair · 21/10/2012 20:38

50 chances left Toombs. Grin

lisaro · 21/10/2012 20:38

Toombs, you're not Paul Daniels are you? Gutted.

Toombs · 21/10/2012 20:38

"tis magic.

Nixea · 21/10/2012 20:39

I d remember laminating my passport once (at a young age I should add!) thinking it would stop it getting wet on holiday. My mum was less than impressed when she found out three days before our holiday!

OP posts:
lisaro · 21/10/2012 20:40

Stupidly, I even read that with his voice in my head. Scary. Grin

TheOneWithTheHair · 21/10/2012 20:40

If it's any consolation Nixea I would have done the same if dh had let me. Can you leave her for two minutes and go back to check? Then three, then four etc? A bit like sleep training but for you iyswim?

ChristmasKate · 21/10/2012 20:41

See I knew you lot would agree with me and look what else I have found to go with it...... www.betterware.co.uk/craft-light-cutter.html

How's Paul Daniels getting on with this card trick. Then?

lisaro · 21/10/2012 20:42

I have visions of your mum coming home to find everything laminated, couch, cooker, beds, dog.

Nixea · 21/10/2012 20:42

Have we just helped discover a dormant superpower then? How exciting! There was a post once about everyday superpowers with was quite funny. People were coming out with powers like "the ability to stop a bullet (once)" and "the ability to temporarily breathe under water"

OP posts:
TheOneWithTheHair · 21/10/2012 20:43

It goes well ChristmasKate and it's a bargin!

Nixea · 21/10/2012 20:43

I quite like the idea of reverse sleep training actually! iCloud even make a reward chart for myself....and laminate it!!

OP posts:
Nixea · 21/10/2012 20:44

I could....damnable autocorrect!

OP posts:
TheOneWithTheHair · 21/10/2012 20:47

If you get enough stickers you could reward yourself with a chocolate button!

It was meant to be a serious suggestion.

lisaro · 21/10/2012 20:48

I'm off now, got people to piss off. Have a good night, Nixea and Paul and you lot.

Nixea · 21/10/2012 20:49

I'm actually going to give it a go. I would have started but she moved in her sleep so ill put it back a bit. I really am that strange. Thing is, I know it's completely irrational but can't see to shake it :)

OP posts:
Nixea · 21/10/2012 20:51

Oh, and thanks to all. I've just had the first hour with no minor panics for a while now. Really was appreciated :)

The whole Betterware sale thing is great, I've got some right old tat in my basket to pad out Christmas tree presents.

Pirate apron anyone? Or what about some meerkat wheelie bin stickers they are for my nan

Please don't go buying it all though because I don't get paid till Friday.

TheOneWithTheHair · 21/10/2012 20:52

Start when you feel you can cope or you need a wee. It may take a bit of practice. You need to play a game or something or you won't calm your heart down and you'll clock watch too much.

By the way, on the subject of Christmas presents, what can I put in a stocking for ds1? Dd(9) and ds2(3) are easily sorted but I can't think of anything for ds1 beyond nice shower gel/ deodorant set.

ChristmasKate · 21/10/2012 20:53

Your welcome. I have some weird anxiety ishoos myself, actually
Whispers

I'm really quite odd but no one else seems to know it Blush

TheOneWithTheHair · 21/10/2012 20:54

Grin @ your nan with meerkat wheelie bin stickers.
