To wash my hair at night??

I wash my hair every morning in the shower. Looking at some older threads about saving time when you work full-time, some posters seemed horrified that people would consider washing hair at night/ having a shower at night as apparently you get dirty sleeping?!

Its ha the opposite effect on me and now I think would save precious time in the morning if I showered/ washed hair once a day still but before bed.

AIBU to consider this?

Good lord, I thought this had to be a tongue-un-cheek thread. Who cares?

ExcitedElectrons · 21/10/2012 17:38

I always wash my hair at night, I don't dry it or brush it either. I wake up with it fine, all nicely curly I don't even need to style it except straighten my fringe. I love showering at night.

Naghoul · 21/10/2012 17:42

DH would be much happier if I got dirty at night Grin

I only do mine every other day. Waste of time otherwise. YANBU.

I am a hair minger. I wash my hair every 4-5 days, when it starts to feel yuck. Before I changed shampoo and cond it needed it every other day. I wash it at night, cannot be faffed getting up any earlier to wash and dry it. I shower twice a day at least.

alistron1 · 21/10/2012 17:59

YANBU. If my hair was 'normal' (i.e not mad curly) and shorter I'd do the same. As it is I only wash my hair three times a week - it takes hours for my hair to dry. Couldn't be doing with that every day.

Wash my hair every 3-4 days and just been to the hairdressers Friday and he said its in very good condition smug i do have very curly frizzy hair so run overnight conditioner through it. But yes i do wash my hair at night.

I wash my hair on Tuesdays, Thursdays and once at the weekend. This is because a) I have thick hair that doesn't get greasy for days, and b) I like my hair to look nice so I like to blow dry it after washing. I only have time on those days.

I shower daily mostly but occasionally bath in the evening in which case I don't shower the next day, since I'm not sleeping with a man and therefore don't get his sweat or anything else on me.

Only exception would be if I misjudged pyjama/duvet/heating ratio and felt sweaty in the morning.

I often wash my hair at night. It takes ages to dry and straighten it and with I baby I don't always have time in the morning

I would always still shower in the morning though. I couldn't imagine leaving the house without having a shower

But hairwashin at night is fine. I don't wash it every day either, I washh it every other day, occaisonally I will leave it an extra day if I have no time / am knackered but its a bit skanky on day 3 so its dry shampoo and tied up

I don't have time on a morning if I'm working so baths/ showers hair etc usually evening, plus that's when I exercise.

I wish I could wash mine at night, I think that's a brilliant idea to save time. I however have the super curly hair that looks like Side show Bob in the morning and a good soak is the only way to tame it. No shampoo just water and conditioner, I've been 'poo free for about 6 years or so now.
Even in cold wet weather, it dries out fine by itself, just tighter curls.

BinksToEnlightenment · 21/10/2012 19:49

I wish I could wash it at night. But I'll wake up looking like I had a rough night on a pile of balloons.

BooCanary · 21/10/2012 19:54

I do mine every other evening. Need to be out of the house by 7.30am with dcs in tow, so no time in the morning.

Have very thick wavy hair which looks much better when left to dry. I straighten it quickly in the morning.

2kidsintow · 21/10/2012 20:02

My hair is quite fine. If I wash it in the morning, it dries very flat (I don't get up early enough to leave the time it needs to style it), but if I wash it and sleep on it while damp, then in the morning it has a LOT more body to it.

Cherylkerl · 21/10/2012 20:09

I'm training mine for every other day - 48 hours seems to be pushing it so far but can manage 36 hours in between so means some days it's washed on an evening. I've had to learn some up dos to get me through. Can't believe how hard work it is - used to be washed every day but lazily, genuinely have to concentrate on washing properly so it lasts. Sometimes use dry shampoo.

I really do prefer it daily but worried its not good for it.

Can anyone recommend any shampoos good for greasy roots that won't dry the rest out? Since I've been washing it not daily my scalp is a bit irritated too.

BinksToEnlightenment · 21/10/2012 20:26

Cherylkerl, this is a little expensive but is absolutely worth it -Aveda Scalp Benefits. It is the only shampoo I've ever had that means I don't have to wash my hair every day. It has saved me hours of hair washing time!

Cherylkerl · 21/10/2012 20:55

Thank you Binks, I will look into that. The price of the shampoo would be worth the time saved washing my hair. Thanks.

BinksToEnlightenment · 21/10/2012 21:00

My thoughts exactly! Besides if you use it less often a bottle lasts longer.

HappySeven · 21/10/2012 21:21

Surely your bed is cleaner because you get into it clean? These odd people (who think you are odd for washing at night) get into their beds dirty after a long day out and about and so have a dirty bed. QED.

HappySeven · 21/10/2012 21:22

Sorry, I think I should have added a Grin !
