I have norovirus and the DC needed feeding.

Feeling guilty about serving up such crap, but really couldn't face cooking :(

Bedmonster. Seriously unclench, it will do you the world of good.

Shop built filled last to me equals cooking from scratch btw.

I think you might keel over watching Friday night dinner at my house. Bt for what it's worth we're all very healthy.

cheekydevil · 19/10/2012 16:52

Yes lady, there was a wedding in Scotland that a lot of guests got stomach bugs from food contamination. The only ones that didn't get ill were the ones that had a few drinks.
I have of course been using that as an excuse ever since. Grin

troubador · 19/10/2012 16:55

Cheekydevil, if that's true I'm really not sure how I could have picked this up Grin

Like my BF always says, if it doesn't work you are not trying hard enough OP Grin

Kalisi · 19/10/2012 17:29

The fact you have to ask that question makes me feel like a terrible parent!

Popumpkin · 19/10/2012 17:30

So, a sausage & mash ready meal isn't cooking then? Shock

I'm guessing there's no need for a Dominos menu in your house OP? That's really not cooking!

You bad mother you, your DCs will surely have you on Jeremy Kyle in years to come Grin. Hope you feel better soon Thanks.

ZombTEE · 19/10/2012 17:31

I should never get ill then...

Grin

Pssst: All my health conditions have been shite for the week or so, DS has either had kids ready meals or a picnic for dinner.

Better than him eating nothing because I feel too crap to cook.

Fret not, there's a special circle of hell of Mothers Like Us, will see you there Grin

TantrumsAndBalloons · 19/10/2012 17:36

I sometimes just throw the Chinese takeaway menu in the general direction of the teenagers and tell them to knock themselves out.

Tonight we are having chicken and chips from the best chicken shop in north London bought home by my DH.

It's all good.

Sirzy · 19/10/2012 17:38

They have eaten thats the important thing!

I always keep a ready meal in for DS for rush nights. He has a thing for asda moussaka at the moment!

Marzipanface · 19/10/2012 19:30

My 3 yr old is sat here now sharing a pepperoni pizza with me.

All she has eaten all day has been rubbish. Sausage rolls and crisps for lunch, banana and apple for breakfast.

She doesn't eat like this all the time. Sometimes when I am really tired or struggling, she has a massive bowl of porridge for dinner.

She is never ill and is always disgustingly bouncy and healthy.

Mrsjay · 19/10/2012 19:32

your illness is making you feel guilty you are allowed to be ill even though it is rank, it was a ready meal honestly not poison I hope you are better soon Thanks

mamij · 19/10/2012 19:35

YANBU. DD1 had sausages with pasta, peas and broccoli. Needless to say she only ate the sausages. At least yours ate some mash too!

Give yourself a break! And hope you feel better soon.

bedmonster · 19/10/2012 19:47

I know ruby I know! And I am trying! It's not really that i think if will do any damage but I was totally raised on ready meals and freezer food and it has taken my dh years of cooking to show me how home cooked food should taste. Now i just don't like the taste of ready meals.

Nuttyfilly · 19/10/2012 21:45

For give me for I have sinned many times on the ready meal front! Sometimes needs must! Running a busy farm and having 6 yr old son plus being pregnant I do just sometimes dish out the ready meals,
Hope you feel better soon!

GreenPetal94 · 20/10/2012 11:19

Well done for feeding the kids when you are feeling rough. sausage and mash is the kind of high fat, high carb food small children should be eating. It's just overweight 40 years old like me who should avoid it.

Sending get well soon wishes.

LucieMay · 20/10/2012 12:10

I would do definitely do this anyway if DS wasn't fussy and would actually eat ready meals!

Spatsky · 20/10/2012 13:12

My son had sausage and own chips for lunch and I am fit as a fiddle. Hth

Spatsky · 20/10/2012 13:13

Oven chips lol, that typo made it sound like they were home made which they certainly weren't.

Frontpaw · 20/10/2012 13:25

Bangers and mash with baked beans. I ask you - does British cuisine get any better?

VodkaKnockers · 20/10/2012 13:25

I actually like the tesco chilled ready meals. Theres not too much crap in them and they taste lovely

VodkaKnockers · 20/10/2012 13:26

Particularly the Cumberland Pie one. Mmm.

Frontpaw · 20/10/2012 13:27

M+S curry. Mmmmmmm

TessCorpseDissect · 20/10/2012 13:31

I use ready made meals a lot occasionally.

I use ready made clothes.
