Somewhere in the north (Yorkshire, Cumbria, Lincolnshire, Northumberland, Cheshire - that sort of thing

With family accommodation (not camping!) and things for DCS to do (age 5,3 and 1)

Want a 2-3 night break between Xmas and New Year - fun for kids and relaxing(ish) for adults...

Does anyone have any brilliant ideas?

Mintyy · 17/10/2012 15:15

No, you are not being unreasonable to ask.

megandraper · 17/10/2012 15:30

ha! I suppose I could have phrased it better. But you know what I mean - hoping for some suggestions...

Center parcs if you're made of money..

Jins · 17/10/2012 15:33

YABU to consider Lincolnshire and Cheshire the North Grin

I'd go to York to be certain of indoor things to do.

megandraper · 17/10/2012 15:41

York is a bit close to home, so hoping to stretch a bit further afield.

Don't really fancy centre parcs.

My ideal would be a sort of country house hotel with a lot of facilities for young children. But I'm not sure one exists.

Prepare to take out a second mortgage! Prices for those days can top those payable for a week in the summer holidays ........

Jins · 17/10/2012 16:00

It's very child friendly although I think pleasureland would be shut. Panto should still be on.

This may tick the boxes. Pricey though

megandraper · 17/10/2012 16:18

Aha! Jins - the castles look fab. I think I'm thinking of something a step down from the castles though, and not quite as full on as the Pleasureland type thing.

A nice country house hotel, which is more child-orientated (e.g. playground / children's activities) would do the trick.

Crieff hydro is fab, maybe a but far away though.

megandraper · 17/10/2012 16:31

Jins! Exactly like that! On website now :)

Emma - Crieff hydro looks great, too far away for this trip but will bookmark it for perhaps another time, thank you.
