to hate my mum's perfume

My mum has worn the same perfume forever, L'Air du Temps.

She sprays it on VERY liberally (and frequently) and when we are in a confined space like a car, or if it's warm, it makes me sick and gives me a headache.

For Xmas I gave her a new perfume, Chance, but she has never worn it.

I am wondering if her perfume is out of date, as she has litres of the stuff from birthdays and Xmas's and Duty -free, and she is a real hoarder, never- throw-anything-away sort of person.

She is very easily offended by comments and I don't know how to raise this with her!

My mother wears JPG - she sprays it liberally to mask her 40 a day habit.

Getting in the car with her, is enough to make me retch. She doesn't even have to spray it in the car.

In fact, I am getting a headache just thinking about how it smells. Thank god she lives 12000 miles away.

None of the horrors listed above comes anywhere near the grotesque assault on the senses of Jean-Paul Gaultier's hideous Classique: top notes of SWEAT and base notes of beetroot and shit. The absolute worst of all time.

YES. YES. YES.

Kenzo Flowers is another horror. If it's not edible it should not smell like cake. Another one, CK Contradiction, think it's well discontinued but it smelled like a cleaning product. A girl I went to school with smashed a bottle of Body Shop Vanilla in her bag and she literally reeked of it for weeks, one sniff of anything vanilla based and I'm immediately 14 again and gagging into a quiet corner.
