To think that Adele should re-record Skyfall?

It's pretty and pleasant but sky 'faw' and tum 'bole' seriously affect my noggin. Didn't anyone in the recording process notice?

Glad we're not the only ones mrs Grin

MrsReiver · 17/10/2012 18:52

All the cool kids are doing it Valium. DS and I both had to say "pithivier" in a ridiculous voice everytime it was said on Bake Off last night, DH was not amused.

recall · 17/10/2012 19:00

You fuckers, I wouldn't have noticed, but now its pants, and whenever i hear it will think of MN Grin

SuePurblybilt · 17/10/2012 20:03

Drives me proper mad this, but everyone in RL thinks I'm bonkers

bottleofbeer · 17/10/2012 20:23

Is it a legal requirement that all JB songs sound exactly the same or something?

Bobyan · 17/10/2012 21:21

They should of had trifle instead of crumble, as at least it rhythms with skyfall.

MardyBra · 17/10/2012 21:24

She needs to learn to hit the note rather than approaching it from a semitone below and swooping up.

pointyfangs · 17/10/2012 21:41

Personally I think 'Skyfall' comes as a great relief after that fuck-awful Robbie Williams Ring a Roses song, which is just the most irritating shit song I have heard in the last 10 years. And this from the man who gave us 'Let Me Entertain You' - I mean, what was he thinking?

BegoniaBampot · 17/10/2012 21:50

It's not that bad but that little Wavery quaver she does at 'tumble' is very much in the style of my old great auntie Isa, god bless her.

drjohnsonscat · 17/10/2012 21:56

It's awful. Or awfaw. I can't believe they didn't make her redo it. No excuse for that diction. I'm a Londoner and it makes me cringe.

Phineyj · 17/10/2012 22:02

YANBU at all. It's awful!

LittleMissFlustered · 17/10/2012 22:58

Adele needs to be fitted with a ball gag so she can never ever sing again. Ever.

FourthTimeAround · 18/10/2012 00:17

Huh? Surely everyone accepts Let Me Entertain You was Robbie's worst offering?! (with the exception of Millennium, obviously)

LineRunner · 18/10/2012 00:35

The piano chords at the start remind me of the opening to No Doubt's Don't Speak.

JudeFawley · 18/10/2012 00:50

YANBU.

Whenever we hear it, H and I sing 'skyfaw' whilst doing a Vic Reeves impression.

SomersetONeil · 18/10/2012 00:55

At least she sings with her own accent sort of - unlike Kylie Minogue, Cheryl Cole, the Spice Girl, et al. Who all sound like they've been respectively airlifted from Melbourne, Newcastle, Watford, Liverpool, Bolton and various hamlets of London and dropped into the American mid-west, the way they sing.

Happybunny12 · 18/10/2012 01:16

kittenkatzen that's exactly what I've been ranting to DH about for ages, drives me nuts! Uurgh!

Don't mind Adele, quite like her. But will now be hearing/singing 'skyfaw, apple crumble' every time, thanks MN!

SuePurblybilt · 18/10/2012 06:49

GOD yes that awful Robbie paint-by-numbers effort. Candy? Candice?
Only surpassed in horribleness by a song about bruises, sung by two country singers at a school reunion (I think) that's never off Radio 2 atm. MAkes me want do hurtful things.

And my car radio only gets Radio 1,2 and 3 Sad

Oldandcobwebby · 18/10/2012 07:36

Of course she should re-record it. As an instrumental!

She is on the same level of crapness as...
Mariah Carey
Eva bloody Cassidy
Katherine Jenkins
Celine Dion

My DW says Adele makes her teeth hurt.

Lottapianos · 18/10/2012 08:34

While we're Adele bashing, I can never understand all the adoration of her as a 'top bird' etc. She always seems like a hard nosed charmless brat to me (maybe a bit harsh)

Notafoodbabyanymore · 18/10/2012 08:46

Oooh, haven't heard it yet. Off to have a listen...

CrunchyCowPat · 18/10/2012 08:54

Yes Sue. I've always thought I was alone in my apathy for Adele. Her songs bore me.

Will never be able to hear this song again without thinking of apple crumble (much more exciting)

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 18/10/2012 09:01

Come on. COME ON! No one can deny Adele has a great voice.

What she does with it is quite another matter.

MrsReiver · 18/10/2012 09:07

Oh not at all Ariel, she can certainly harry a tune. I just wish she wouldn't.

And Lotta - I don't get the "top bird" thing either, she seems rather boring IMO, a bit like Lily Allen.

Sparklingbrook · 18/10/2012 09:08

I can't forgive her for the stalker song I'm afraid.
