I'm so organised with my nit routine. We condition and comb every weekend. Nitty gritty.

Was busy over the weekend so did it this morning (it's half term here). We don't forget to do dh and I as well.

I found them on dd2 in August just after the schools went back, 3 weeks ago and again today. Other 2 dc have had an occasional one or two.

There's a child in dd2s class that isn't being treated, I'm sure of it. I think I know who it is, poor wee thing is always scratching! All we get from school is a note in the newsletter which mentions jauntily that "we've had reports of sightings!".

I know things have changed since the days of nitty Nora, but in don't think I'm BU to feel a bit nostalgic for the nit regimes of the late 1970s!

Yeah! That's how they get at your blood, it's what they live on, like fleas.

Welsh My daughters hair is always in plaits for school. as far as I know the nittys can't get into hair when its plaited as it needs strands to cling onto to climb eeewwww.
Making myself all queasy. ah well its taking my mind off the fact I am 40 weeks today and having horrible pain :(

It makes me laugh how it's always someone else's fault! Some other mother is probably sitting blaming you!

I think the Vosene is great at keeping the buggers away. I wish they would make one without the conditioner though as my ds hair looks greasy and lank on the second day.

If it's any help ('tis a while since we had this problem) one of my daughters used to pick up great big lice from an unfortunate little girl who was expected to delouse herself with an electric comb at the age of 8. (My goodness, do they run fast at that size!!!!) My daughter had her hair in a bob with a fringe. Her twin sister had long hair in a pony tail with no fringe and no lice.

Once we realised this, we grew the fringe out and put her hair in a pony tail, with the help of the thick cheap boots hair gel.

The little burgers used to lay the eggs under the pony tail, thinking it was nice and warm and close to the head - but when you take it out, they get cold and can't hatch! Used to find the unhatched eggs half way down the hair shaft and wonder why!

Would definitely go for platts and a bit of hair gel as well, and comb with a nice conditioner once a week. All the combing can make their heads sore. It is reallly annoying.
