Ds2 started 5 mornings at pre school in August and since then has been pretty much constantly ill since.
I know this can be normal, but he really is having a bad time of it...
He started back in April, and within 2 weeks had contracted hand, foot and mouth.
Then he got such a bad chest infection he ended up in hospital on nebs and 2 lots of ABs
He has had a cold/cough since he went back and on weds was very sick (very unlike him)
He was also complaining of sore limbs, and his feet were icy cold so took him to gp on thurs and the gp found a heart murmur.
Got to go back and see gp on thurs but since thurs he has had really bad nights and temps.
Last night he was awake hourly
Temp of over 38 degrees.
Crying, almost delirious talking about spiders etc....
Am thinking I should take him back to oogp...am I being silly?
Or should I wait til go opens tomorrow morning?
Any advice gratefully recieved, thanks.

Hello all
Back from ooh
She was very nice.
We will prob be referred to cardiologist wrt heart murmur but she is not too worried ATM as is spots are not infected and healing and he had no fever since last night.
Urine ok too.
He is not well by a long chalk but feel better for getting him checked out.
Thanks all.

How is he today?

Badvoc · 15/10/2012 08:34

Had a much better night but if course I was up all night with ds1!!
We gave him some calprofen before bed last night and it seems to have prevented the nighttime temp spikes he has been having since thurs...
Back to gp on thurs to check his chest again.
Thanks for all the advice yesterday...dh is no help...he will always say wait and see no matter how serious to problem :(
Hoping the murmur is fine by thurs otherwise we will be referred to the cardiologist...

Hmmm... Is pale poo bad?
Ds2 just been to the loo - first time since thurs! - and it was greyish in colour....never happened before!
Is that normal after a sickness bug?

I'd take him to A&E. Grey/pale poo can be a sign of hepatitis. XX

Trazzletoes · 15/10/2012 09:57

Badvoc it is quite common after a tummy bug to have grey or white poo. However, it can also be a sign of a liver problem so might be worth a trip to the gp if it doesnt settle down.

DozyDuck · 15/10/2012 10:01

Heart murmers can be absolutely nothing to worry about. DS has one, as does his dad, my dad, (and two of my cats Grin)

Sometimes it's just a funny noise it makes as the blood is rushing through, they'll probably do a scan just to check that's all it is. Most of the time they're innocent and nothing to worry about.

Very occasionally it's a problem with the heart, but innocent heart murmers are quite common in young children it seems.

(just thought I'd add this as the out of hours doctor told me DS had a heart murmer and I didn't have a clue and thought he had serious problems with his heart and was in bits for a week until my regular GP told me this information)

Hope all is ok

toofattorun · 15/10/2012 10:04

Hope your little ones are ok. You're having a really bad run of it and hope everything settles down soon. I agree with going to A&E.

QuintessentialShadows · 15/10/2012 10:05

Spiders you say?

Have you given him the flu vaccine Pandemrix?

(Hallucinations)

rockinhippy · 15/10/2012 10:12

I second getting him seen re the pale pooh, its often liver related, I had yellow Jaundice - aka Hepatitis A as a kid - I was ill for MONTHS, its infectious & lots of kids in the area had it, it could well explain his ongoing health problems - its not life threatening, but it is very nasty & I still remember how ill I was, fever with hallucinations, sick & lots of other symptoms - I still can't bar the sight or smell of lucozade as I remember DM & DGM trying to force it down me at they thought it would help [bleugh]

alienreflux · 15/10/2012 11:05

how are they badvoc? what a bloody nightmare, have you had any proffesional advice re pale poo?
really hope things improve for you

Badvoc · 15/10/2012 11:17

Hi all
He isn't jaundiced and eating and drinking almost normally today.
He hasn't had the flu vaccine but is up to date on all other vacs.
Am feeling rather sorry for myself today which is deeply pathetic but all this started last week on my 40th b day no less! Ds1 started with a cough/cold/sore throat virus and then ds2 came down with sickness bug on weds evening/night and then I have been battling first virus and ds1 started throwing up yesterday!
Feel decidedly dodgy myself today :(
Ds2 has had a really rough time since he started pre school that's for sure...
We are back at GPS on thurs...if he has another episode of pale poo I will take him back before that.
Don't they get vaccinated against hep A? (Clueless)

Hmmmm...liver issues?
I have Gilbert's syndrome...I wonder if that's hereditary?
Can't say I have everad grey poo though!

OP posts:
rockinhippy · 15/10/2012 11:48

Looks a Possibility

According to the link above, its a "genetic condition" so YES hereditary & could well be your answer, especially as he's been ill already, link says that aggravates it

hope you all feel better soon - I've just my DD back to School after a nasty gastric flu virus which she kindly passed onto me - it was a hell of a week nursing her when I was feeling so rough myself, so I really do feel for you all :(

Badvoc · 15/10/2012 12:06

Yeah, it's been a pretty bad few days!
Glad your dd is better.
Dc are currently playing with the pirate playmobil toys so I think they feel a bit better :)
