AIBU to think that if you've met someone for the very first time and they are giving you a lift somewhere then it is probably best not to get into their car and immediately exclaim, "eurgh what on earth is this music?!", and then go on about how much you hate the music till they get fed up and switch it off?

Glad it's not just me, it really threw me at the time. Had no idea how to react, normally I'd have told them that if they didn't like it then they could walk, but it's my dad's new girlfriend so it was a bit awkward. And then I started to wonder if I was the one being rude!

I agree. I hate getting into someone else's car only to have my eardrums blasted by loud music. I always switch my radio off if I am giving someone else a lift because we usually talk.

Who said anything about it being loud, I think the volume was at level 2 or 3, so audible, but definitely not loud enough to impede conversation.
