My DS is a petit 6 year old, with asd traits and sensory issues. I bought a pilates ball for him to roll on but he has taken to rolling off it quickly and then trying to do a forward roll when he hits the floor. I have told him not to do it here, he must only do it under supervision at school. Am I just being overprotective?

Its not about a roly poly though is it, its about doing it after rolling off a ball. You have more control of your neck just doing a standard roly poly from the floor but when you are doing it from a height from a rolling ball, you could land on your head/neck funny and i would personally be more cautious of that. Im a nanny though so dont really want to end my career this way, a normal roly poly is fine.

Ds was just showing me not front rolls but front FLIPS on his bed! Jumping up and flipping over mid air! I encouraged him and am gonna find out about gymnastics classes, I think it's fabulous!
