I would normally make something proper puddingy but I am pregnant and drowning in work and could happily live without hours slaving over a stove.

So how would you react, if I came to your house this evening and you had cooked a starter and main, if I brought the following:

Strawberries
Luxury vanilla ice-cream from the posh ice-cream shop down the road
Homemade (this afternoon) chocolate chip cookies.

Does that sound OK? Would you think I had made no effort?

(will take wine too...)

Bang on? Bang on??

Dear oh dear, someone seems to have got out of bed the wrong side this morning Grin.

Sounds awesome and pretty cool that you've even bothered to take a pud to someones house! I offer, but no one ever offers to bring food to mine. You can come to my house for dinner any night of the week!

cheekydevil · 12/10/2012 10:28

She can't, I bagsy'd her first!

CelticPromise · 12/10/2012 10:32

There are still British strawberries in Sainsbury's. So they must be in season, just about!

CelticPromise · 12/10/2012 10:32

And the pudding sounds lush.

seeker · 12/10/2012 10:36

"

"Could you quickly poach some pears in wine?"

No, she couldn't- you can't pouch pears quickly!

I wonder if you could microwave them.........

cheekydevil · 12/10/2012 10:39

I want a 'pouch' pear. What is that?
Do you have to put it in a kangeroo's pouch to warm it through?

seeker · 12/10/2012 10:43

Didn't you know? You buy little pouches from Lakeland - 12.99 for 6(real bargain)...........

Crinkle77 · 12/10/2012 10:44

I would be totally lazy and just buy something. You sound very busy and are also pregnant so sure your frinds would understand.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 12/10/2012 10:46

Your pudding sounds lovely and effortful and thoughtful, emeraldgirl1.

Posh ice cream sandwiches are my pudding if choice atm. Smile

But obviously only in in Cookie Season.

I still have strawberries ripening in pots on my patio. With the way the weather has been this year, bollocks to seasonality!

cheekydevil · 12/10/2012 10:52

Oh Lakeland, they think of everything Grin

Blu · 12/10/2012 11:05

I took a COOK Rosewater and something meringue roulade to a friend's party when I had offered to take a pudding - and everyone was raving about it and asking for the recipe - I did tell the truth.

They are actually home made, just by someone else.

MrsKeithRichards · 12/10/2012 11:07

Nothing wrong with an artic roll!!

INeverFinishAnythi · 12/10/2012 11:28

Is it shortbread or shortcake? I never know.

ilovemyteddies · 12/10/2012 12:14

WILL YOU BE MY FRIEND? Grin

YANBU at ALL. Perfect. Just perfect. All of it.

shrinkingnora · 12/10/2012 12:22

Under cook the cookies and then put the warm in a bowl and put a scoop of icecream on top a la pizza hut's new and frankly scrumptious pudding.

sashh · 12/10/2012 12:23

I'd throw you out - I can't stand strawberries. Raspberries or blueberries however yum.

justbogoffnow · 12/10/2012 12:24

...drool

FushiaFernica · 12/10/2012 12:26

I have just bought some strawberries today, homemade cookies show you have made an effort.

AdoraBell · 12/10/2012 12:28

Sounds like you've made a stirling effort there OP, I would be very pleased if you turned at mine with this pudding.

YouOldSlag · 12/10/2012 12:28

I would be delighted with that dessert, OP and with you being pregnant, I wouldn't expect miracles, but would find home made cookies and posh ice cream and strawberries a really excellent pudding. Sod the seasonality thing, you're among friends, not on Masterchef.

BonaDea · 12/10/2012 12:52

YANBU. It sounds lovely, and I'd be delighted if someone brought that for a pud.

Kippersbigfeet · 12/10/2012 12:55

Can still pick your own strawberries up here so still in season - lovely
