to expect more than one evening's notice (wed night) for booking parents' evening slot on Monday?

Found letter in DD's book bag last night (10th) dated 9th Oct, requesting preferred time slots for parents' evening on 15th. Deadline for response was today. No ther warning for it.
We have DD2 in pre-school (different place to school) & have no family nearby to babysit, & at that sort of notice & for the 4-8 time slots it's v difficult for friends too. DH on-call last night, so couldn't discuss with him.
AIBU to think one night to arrange childcare etc is a bit tight?!

I'm with Tearoomtrash I can't always do these parents evening slots, so I just ask to grab the teacher for 15 minutes in the mornings - works well I actually get a better response ad sometimes a longer chat - I rarely see the teachers as mine go on the bus.

our parents evenings have 2 sets of slots. 3.15pm till 6pm and then 7pm until 9pm. We have just handed back our letters where we tick which slot we want and later on we will get them back detailing the actual 10 minute time slot we have been allocated. Our parents night isnt until November 8th so plenty of time to sort childcare if required.

nailuk we get a babysitter for parents evenings. We go out to eat afterwards and make an evening of it!

You are not being unreasonable.

Our school sent home letters to book parents evening, but the only way to book an appointment is online. I'm sure most parents have internet access, but nevertheless what happened to a sheet of paper in the corridor?

our wrap around care club opens for parents evening -50p per child, I have 4 apointments (2 dc and they are streamed so 4 teachers) and am generally over an hour so it's a bargain!
