I used to like the french polish look but in the last few years I am being to think they look a bit trashy

I hate it on toes.

On toes it's just bizarre.

YANBU. Agree with Oldandcobwebby that natural is best. Pushed-back cuticles just look painful, long nails look as if they'd snap the moment you do anything interesting, weird paint looks try-hard and vain.

Long nails look like they harbour all kinds of filth.
