To justify this to myself...

So I just spent way to much money then sensible on make and am feeling a little guilty. I until now have been going out about two nights a week and spending lots on alcohol etc so am telling myself it's the same as that as I'm not going out any more due to moving to a new area. Anyway is this justifiable. Please say yes...

That was supposed to say make up Blush

OpheliasWeepingWillow · 06/10/2012 14:32

Er, can you afford it? That's the question.

FellatioNelson · 06/10/2012 14:34

Spending more money than is sensible is never a good idea, is it? Presumably you can't really afford it, which is why it was not sensible?

Anyway I am the last person to ask, or to judge on that count. Grin

melissajp · 06/10/2012 14:34

Yes I just feel guilty at spending lots in one go. If it makes a difference I was cornered by one of those make up counter girls who coerced me into it. My skin really does look great though Grin

sookiesookie · 06/10/2012 14:54

Why did you stop going out?

tethersend · 06/10/2012 14:56

Another shocking example of Broken Britain.

OHforDUCKScake · 06/10/2012 14:58

How much is 'lots'.

A lot to one person is not a lot to others.

Lots to me is £30, lots to joe bloggs could be £200

GrimAndHumourless · 06/10/2012 14:59

If you can afford it, great

if you can't then you're a bit stupid to spend needed cash on make up

I stopped going out cause I've just moved and not met anyone here really so that money would have typically been spent anyway. It was about £50 which does sound a lot but I've not got any other commitments or anything I needed to spend it on.

And why is it an example of broken Britain I'm confused there?

OP posts:
invicta · 06/10/2012 16:35

I'm a bit confused by the Broken Britain comment also, unless it was meant o be tongue-in-cheek.

I guess if it was a one off and you can afford it,ten don 't worry. Everyone deserves a treat, and you probably didn't get alot for your money. Some people can spend that on a pot of face cream. Enjoy your make up!

StepAwayFromTheORANGECakes · 06/10/2012 16:51

YANBU enjoy it, at least its more exciting than my latest purchase thanks to MN thread on steam mops I just ordered one Blush

MikeOxard · 06/10/2012 16:54

I think it was a joke. Made me laugh anyway.

I'm sure you look fab and if you are saving money elsewhere then it was kind of spare money really, enjoy it!

MikeOxard · 06/10/2012 16:55

...I want a steam mop now.

TessCowDirect · 06/10/2012 17:03

Well, it doesn't sound like you've taken food out of the mouth of babes so enjoy your purchases.

I hope it's not too long before you make new friends in the area. That make-up really does need an outing! Grin

StepAwayFromTheORANGECakes · 07/10/2012 08:41

mike asda direct £25.00 a mnetter had one and said its fab so I ordered, hope she is right Smile

Doingakatereddy · 07/10/2012 08:59

What do you use the steam mop for? Keep hearing about them

OP - I'd suggest you have quick look at your spending habits, debt mounts very quickly even when it's £20 & £40 here and there. Saving for a Few weeks to save for something special of debt payment may be the cold turkey you need to break habits.

WMittens · 07/10/2012 09:14

If it's bothering you, return the unopened items for a refund; if it's going to last a significant amount of time, then tell yourself you're not going to buy any more for a while.

NellyBluth · 07/10/2012 09:27

Nah, if its not going to bankrupt you and hasn't gone on the credit card then you're fine. Especially if you wear make up a lot. Some make up can be worth the money - the right foundation that suits you is almost priceless, if you ask me. I've probably wasted as much money knocking around with cheaper foundation and deciding after a week or two that its not right and buying another one. It would probably have been cheaper just to go to HoF and get someone to find me the right £40 foundation!

Hijack here but - oooh, Steps, which particular steam cleaner? The baby repeatedly licking the wooden floor seems to get a certain amount of dirt off, but I guess I ought to help her out occasionally...

ZacharyQuack · 07/10/2012 09:45

Well you've got it now, so you might as well enjoy it. Use it, don't leave it "for best" - makeup and skincare will expire.

Cathycomehome · 07/10/2012 10:53

I've also been easily led into ordering a steam mop. Blush op, don't read the thread on steam mops. At least you've spent too much on makeup, which is fun. You'll find yourself being excited about a mop if you're not careful.

StepAwayFromTheORANGECakes · 07/10/2012 11:18

yup excited about a steam mop... my life just keeps on reaching dizzying heights Grin I can't wait to use it on the floor and carpets, apparently using them regularly will eventually remove the cola stain from my sons carpet!! ooohhh the excitement
