to be OUTRAGED at what DH has just confessed?

DitaVonCheese · 06/10/2012 13:05

Last weekend, DH went to the shop for some groceries and came home with a huge tin of chocolates, which he then revealed weren't for us at all but were for him to take to work for his birthday, which is in a few days' time.

(As an aside, I was pretty ill at the time with an infected insect bite which was threatening to turn into full-blown blood poisoning, so I did wonder whether he might pick me up a bar of chocolate or something to cheer me up, thought he probably wouldn't, then saw the tin, then had my hopes dashed again. A rollercoaster, I tell you.)

After DD pestered us almost to death, he then let us have two each and then another one each, after yet more pestering. I then said that he had to take them to work on the Monday as I could not spend a week in the house with DD being pestered for chocolates she couldn't have.

He has just revealed that he put them in his car on Monday but has since been snacking on them in his car on the way too and from work and has more or less eaten the lot Shock

I am OUTRAGED. AIBU?

(He says he would have needed to buy cakes anyway, I reckon it's cakes OR chocolate but not both - AIBU on that too?)

Buy a large cake and scoff the lot. Tis the best revenge.

Thumbwitch · 06/10/2012 14:15

YA sooooo NBU!! I'd be incandescent at secret chocolate stashing in the car!

I was cross enough when DH bought me lots of chocolate for my Christmas stocking and then proceeded to eat an entire packet of my present himself! The cheek of him.

Yours though - words fail me. Shock :(

(Hope you're feeling better now, btw)

Thumbwitch · 06/10/2012 14:17

oh and YANBU on the other point either - Cakes or chocolates, not both! Good grief.

MooseLooseAbootThisHoose · 06/10/2012 14:18

YANBU

But...this sounds like the kind of thing I would do without meaning too. I would put them in the car to take to work then when stuck in traffic I would have one, then another, then another until pretty soon there is only half a tin left and it would be just embarrassing to take that into work because everyone would know I was a pie.

JustBeheadedAnotherLlama · 06/10/2012 14:22

YANBU!

Make him buy you a big box of fancy chocolates as 'a present' for someone important. Then you and DD should proceed to eat them in front of him without allowing him ANY.

McHappyPants2012 · 06/10/2012 14:25

Has any one had the lindor chocolate bar yet, it's out of this world.

I love Belgium chocolate, especially the ones with truffle inside

MaryZed · 06/10/2012 14:26

YANBU

You should also be discusted and apauled.

DitaVonCheese · 06/10/2012 14:27

Salmo they were Roses, which pissed me off to start with because I boycott Nestle.

Thank you all for making me Grin I told him that I was going to tell Mumsnet and you would all tell me to leave him.

Reindeer I did actually just eat the whole of DD's birthday cake by myself Blush but it was in the fridge and freely available to anyone.

This thread has also reminded me that I have a secret bit of chocolate in my handbag that I pilfered from my gran Blush

Oh good grief. Shock Clearly he's having an affair and another woman is eating those chocolates in his car. And if he's spending so much time in his car that he can eat a whole tub of chocolates, then he isn't doing his share of the housework. And no doubt his mother/your MiL will be calling at bedtime and waking DD to offer her replacement chocs and that will set off a family feud that lasts for generations... THERE IS CLEARLY ONLY ONE SOLUTION AND YOU ALL KNOW WHAT IT IS... Grin >evil emoticon

DitaVonCheese · 06/10/2012 14:28

PS DD is only 4, so I think I should eat any recompensatory chocolate by myself, for her own sake Wink

KenLeeeeeee · 06/10/2012 14:35

Roses are Cadburys, not Nestlé. I avoid Quality Street for the same boycott reasons. Please, please tell me Cadburys aren't affiliated with Nestlé?!?!? ShockConfused

Anyway, not sharing chocolate is a divorce-able crime in this house. Leave the bastard.

Thumbwitch · 06/10/2012 14:41

Maybe Dita meant that it wouldn't have been so bad if he had bought Quality Street, because she couldn't have had those anyway (boycotting) - but the fact he bought Cadbury's was just even MORE unreasonable.

Just be grateful it wasn't something really lovely... Actually no, sod that. Kill him anyway. Grin

Lueji · 06/10/2012 14:42

Definitely leave the bastard.
He's an idiot for confessing it to you. :o

It was his birthday, surely he could have a tin of chocolates.

I'd obviously buy a box of Thorntons/after 8s/Gilian to myself and children's stuff for DD at the next supermarket trip.

ExitPursuedByAaaaaarGhoul · 06/10/2012 14:47

A big tin?

All to himself?

I hope he was sick.

Goldmandra · 06/10/2012 15:32

"A big tin?

All to himself?

I hope he was sick."

I wouldn't be Blush

I think you deserve Guylian Seashells at least.

ExitPursuedByAaaaaarGhoul · 06/10/2012 15:35

They always look better than they taste imo.

I can do a box of after eights though.

StepAwayFromTheORANGECakes · 06/10/2012 16:41

it really is an OUTRAGE but Aldi are doing chocolate orange belgian truffles for 99p a box and they are to die for so a couple of boxes of those and he could be forgiven Smile

Pocketsocks · 06/10/2012 16:46

What a weasel!

monkeysbignuts · 06/10/2012 16:49

hahaaha! Temptation, I have eaten whole tubes or tubs of stuff and hidden the evidence myself. Make him buy you a tin :)

McHappyPants2012 · 06/10/2012 16:50

Step :)

Joiningthegang · 06/10/2012 16:55

Now he has confessed you can deal with it together - maybe give relate or other couples counseling a go

One day you may be able to look back and laugh ......

butterfingerz · 06/10/2012 17:38

That's a total abomination. I concur that you should leave the bastard, but only after you have extrapolated a compensatory tin of chocolates from him. Greedy bastard.

butterfingerz · 06/10/2012 17:40

Id go for hotel chocolat meself though.

SaurenLaurensonsMum · 06/10/2012 17:49

He ate all the chocolates = piggy and greedy

Now if you ate all the chocolates = you deserved them and have some Wine too.

yanbu and leave the bastard.

SoleSource · 06/10/2012 19:42

Chocolate cheater!
