NDN's have gone away for about 6 weeks. They've been gone 2 or 3 weeks.
I've just cut down tons of triffids in the garden and wondered if it would be really bad manners to use their garden waste wheelie while they're away to save 200 trips to the tip.
if the ( very nosy) other neighbour told them on their return will they be pissed off?

Mybe it would be best to keep them in the garden after all in case of zombie invasion ( would a triffid hedge be a defence against zombies?)

Poisonous man eating veggies?! Shock

What the hell is a triffid?

InfinityWelcomesCarefulDrivers · 05/10/2012 12:43

What on earth are you all talking about?
However, no this wouldn't bother me in the slightest, as long as it was empty when I came back

Triffids are tree-like, with three roots. However they differ from trees in that they can move around, and they have a whip-like sting, the poison from which can kill an adult. In 'The Day of the Triffids' by John Wyndham, they were cultivated for their oil, which was mega healthy, or good for fuel, or something, but broke out when some sort of solar event blinded most of the Earth's population, rendering them powerless against the Triffids' attacks.

:) I've just googled, and thanks to that and your post, I've finally caught up

We were a bit pissed off when we moved out of our rented house back home after an insurance repair debacle. Went back a week later to do the last of cleaning only to find one of the neighbours had rammed our bins full Hmm But if you think they'd be ok and you could do something nice for them it's probably ok.

nickeldaisical · 05/10/2012 13:12

but that's different from a holiday.

nickeldaisical · 05/10/2012 13:14

(sorry, holding DD)
and very annoying.

HaveALittleFaith · 05/10/2012 13:24

Yes indeed. They must have assumed we weren't coming back. If you have a good relationship with them, it should be fine.

Sallyingforth · 05/10/2012 13:25

Might be too late for now, but when they come back couldn't you have a word and agree to use each other's bins when the others are away? That's what we do around here with waste and recycling bins.

FairPhyllis · 05/10/2012 13:30

You can kill triffids with salt water - but only if you are in the film version. If you are in the novel version I'm afraid you will have to go and live on the Isle of Wight forever to escape them. Sending them to the tip is not going to cut it.

starfishmummy · 05/10/2012 13:37

Wouldn't bother me as long as it was empty and returned to it's usual place when I got back.
