To think it's a pity...

AIBU to think it's a pity that many/most of today's young men have No Idea what an unshaved/unwaxed female bush looks like? From what I see in the gym changing rooms, & hear from people whose job involves dealing with female 'bits', the norm in the under-30s now is minimum a Brazilian. And to think that 30 years ago, shaving women in labour was regarded as outrageously controlling behaviour on the part of male obstetricians... That is all.

DuelingFanjo · 01/10/2012 16:45

oh, and I have a friend (Female) who sleeps with a lot of men and she says ALL of the under 40s she sleeps with think that no hair is the norm, for men as well as women.

LittleBairn · 01/10/2012 16:46

Another who is under 30 with a 'joy of sex' style bush. Grin

Naysa · 01/10/2012 16:50

I don't see how it's see as prepubestant. Unless of course you have no figure and no tits and look like a 10 year old. Some people prefer it. Big deal.
Surely if we have pubes for a reason then we have head hair for a reason. None of you would go ape shit if someone shaved their head so why are you so concerned about a baldy fanjo?

Lostgirl27 · 01/10/2012 16:52

Well my collar doesn't match my cuffs so to avoid embarrassment with new partners I go for a full Brazilian, or Hollywood as its called now.

LST · 01/10/2012 16:53

Well said naysa.

WorraLiberty · 01/10/2012 17:08

I've had 3 vaginal births and believe me if my fanjo resembled a pre pubescent girl's, I'd advise her to seek medical attention immediately Grin

LST · 01/10/2012 17:09

Haha worra Grin

ErrorError · 01/10/2012 17:33

When I shave I look like a plucked chicken. Pubic topiary has never been a talent of mine so an all over trim is good enough for me. I've had my spider's legs waxed on the 2 occasions in the last 4 years when I've been swimming in public.

honeytea · 01/10/2012 17:38

I'm another furry 20-something, my dp is a hairless 30-something.

I have been trying to encourage dp to let his hair grow when our ds is old enough to notice, I worry that if he sees his father all smooth he will feel bad when his pubes start growing.

MerylStrop · 01/10/2012 17:38

I think it is weird that what started in the porn industry is now the "norm".

I agree with the poster who said that it is a pity that people think slavish high maintenance grooming is now minimum standard.

WorraLiberty · 01/10/2012 17:44

It's not high maintenance

It's takes minutes to put a bit of Veet cream down there, they even do it in a spray can now.

It takes far longer to put a big of make up on to be honest.

WorraLiberty · 01/10/2012 17:44

*bit

Startailoforangeandgold · 01/10/2012 17:49

Vaguely stubbly men's chests look hilarious and plucked chicken backs are just yuck.

Male hair should be left alone.

My brush has been there since I was in y6 it's staying!

Sparklingbrook · 01/10/2012 17:52

I had never given this subject any thought at all, and now on MN it is subject of the day all the time. Confused

chipsandpeas · 01/10/2012 17:53

i dont get some peoples obsession with other peoples pubes so what if people shave/ wax all or part of them off its no skin off my nose what the lady who sits next to me in work does
i generally do my bikini line and thats it

Sparklingbrook · 01/10/2012 17:56

Where does all this pube watching go on?

Tuttutitlookslikerain · 01/10/2012 18:04

I don't understand why people are so bothered about what other people do t their bodies, TBH.

I do what I want to my pubes, DH does have a preference, but it doesn't always come into it.

As for boys and young men taking a pride in their appearance, why on earth shouldn't they? I have 2 teenaged sons, they and all their friends, take time over their hair and clothes, women have been doing it for years. Bit bloody sexist to say that men can't/shouldn't.

negativecreep · 01/10/2012 18:13

Why is it a pity? i like being shaved down there as it feels cleaner and thats all, I find when i've been hairy (a long time ago) the natural... bits that come out of me at certain times of the month get caught in the hairs, sweaty hair = smelly to, i just felt icky. I do it to feel clean! I don't give a crap if a man didn't like my hairless fanny, nor would i care if i had a bush and he didn't like it! tough titties!

LST · 01/10/2012 18:37

Do you know what. I find all this conditioning bollocks so infuriating. People telling me I prefer to be clean shaven because I have been conditioned that way. Angry

I can remember cutting my first 10 pubes off with a pair of plastic sissors when I was about 10 because I hated them. No other reason. My mum supported a fairly large bush and I didn't like it so I cut them off.

In my life I think I can count on one hand where I have let my pubes grow for longer than a month (once was when I was pregnant) and each time i felt vile and unclean. I can bare it. I haven't been 'conditioned' I have always hated my pubes is that ok?

I don't like tomatoes either have I been conditioned against them or other things I hate.

LST · 01/10/2012 18:39

*can't bare it sorry.

alienreflux · 01/10/2012 18:43

i've never thought of shaving my fanjo, since i did it when i was about 15 and it itched for weeks!! my fella has never minded! i did trim up when going into hospital though :)

AngelWreakinHavoc · 01/10/2012 18:51

Personally I don't care what happens between people's legs. If you like to go bald I have no issue, I do it myself in the summer.

Why only in summer aldi, Do you get cold between the legs in winter?

Confused
squeakytoy · 01/10/2012 19:01

I have no desire to know what other women do with their pubic hair, as it is their business. If they want to shave it, fine, if they dont, equally fine.. I really do not care.

MarysBeard · 01/10/2012 19:10

I can understand why women do it. If they prefer waxing you may as well get the whole lot done. I've never even been near my legs with wax so it's unlikely I would let it near my fanjo. If you are more into shaving, a quick trim is much easier, shaving the whole lot would be tricky, and itchy when it grows back. (I know, I tried, once and only once Blush).

DuelingFanjo · 01/10/2012 21:43

"I have no desire to know what other women do with their pubic hair, as it is their business. If they want to shave it, fine, if they dont, equally fine.. I really do not care."

this ^

but... why oh why oh why does every woman i know who waxes insist on discussing it with me? Honestly, I have hade relative strangers tellm they are 'going for a wax' and talking to me as if it's something I do too!
