To hate party bags?

Do any parents truly want a bag of plastic tat and sweets? Do the children actually care? I'm thinking of alternatives for the dcs party because I know how much I hate party bags. The plastic toys always break within half an hour. Waste of money no?

UANBU, I also dislike them with a passion, however DD and friends love them.

It's DD 8th birthday this week and she is having 5 friends round for a birthday sleepover Hmm . While doing a food shop a few days ago, I came across bright pink/black zebra print lunch bags reduced to £1.25 each. Needless to say I bought 6 and will put a small packet of haribos and a piece of birthday cake in each bag. Job done and DD was delighted when she seen the party bags!

Hmm a bit of a mixed reaction. We have been to a few parties where there have been genuinely nice things in the party bags but generally its plastic crap. Yes the kids love it for 5 minutes, then it breaks! I like the book idea!
