I'm still lHmm what do you think - DS and I waiting in shoe shop at the till and I gave him a pile of coins to pop in the whizzy round charity boxes, he was having great fun with 5p's and 2p's he dropped his last one and before he picked it up a lady sitting close by pointed it out to her son approx 5, her son scampered over and picked it up, so I thought arhh that's lovely. So he looked back at his mum and she said "yes in the box" and nodded, so he took the coin and popped it in the whizzy fun charity box... My DS was a bit Hmm as it was very clearly dropped by him only seconds before.

Its not like he pocketed it and he did put it in the charity bit so that's fine, but i guess if that of been me I would of said - Oh pick that up for the little boy - NOT pick it up and use it for your go in the box..Not the end of the world but I thought it was rude!

In response to the next AIBU thread

Yes Porky you were being unreasonable to point it out.

Thank you for doing it though, it drives me bonkers.

ladymariner · 30/09/2012 23:02

My ds used to love putting coins in those things so I would have been a bit pissed off if that had happened to him. The other mother was rude, she should have told her son to give the money back to your ds.

hmc · 30/09/2012 23:04

And how much do you know about dyslexia Exit Hmm? - a good deal less than those affected by it I'll wager. Of course dyslexia involves grammar too!

ExitPursuedByJKR · 30/09/2012 23:06

Really?

hmc · 30/09/2012 23:07

No problem pongy. I will be deleted soon though [rueful smile emoticon]

Dancergirl · 30/09/2012 23:08

I think it's a bit mean not to let the other boy have a go. Your ds had already put a whole load of coins in, I would have encouraged him to let the other boy put one in. Maybe the mum didn't see your ds drop it.

ExitPursuedByJKR · 30/09/2012 23:08

Why will you be deleted hmc?

CouthyMowWearingOrange · 30/09/2012 23:12

If one if mine had picked it up, I would have told them to give it back to the little boy. If they didn't, and they stuck it in the box, I would get my purse out and give the little boy a coin to replace it. And I would get them to apologise.

Rude rude rude IMO.

hmc · 30/09/2012 23:12

'ignorant twat' I am guessing!

BonnyDay · 30/09/2012 23:14

Pongy.its "would have " not "Would of".

BonnyDay · 30/09/2012 23:15

Oh ha. Someone else said that.
That's not dyslexia. That's bad grammar.

PorkyandBess · 30/09/2012 23:17

I don't mind! It can stay. Grin

I have never been called a name before, in all my many years on here , so as I have unwittingly offended dyslexics (for which I apologise) with my heinous grammar pedantry, I will wear it as a hair shirt.

Dancergirl · 30/09/2012 23:18

I'm really surprised at some of he responses on here. Making a fuss that your child didn't get to put ONE out of a load of coins in the box is a bit precious IMO. What about being kind to others? It wasn't as if it was the OPs ds' ONLY coin.

ExitPursuedByJKR · 30/09/2012 23:18

I said that Bonny but got shouted at.

hmc I don't think you will get deleted for that. Wink

CandiStaton · 30/09/2012 23:19

ha! at age 5 my dd would have gone ape-shit if some-one did that Grin

really odd on behalf of the mum. and child actually Confused

the only way i can imagine this happening-is if mum was day dreaming, and just spied the stray coin...hadnt clocked that your son had dropped it?? Confused

Flisspaps · 30/09/2012 23:19

It really wouldn't have bothered me. I'd have been annoyed had the child kept the money, but not at him putting it in the charity box.

The of/have mistake gets right on my tits though.

Viviennemary · 30/09/2012 23:20

YANBU. It was a little bit cheeky of them to do this. The money should have been handed back to you or your son.

Floggingmolly · 30/09/2012 23:21

Of course she was rude. If she was so keen for her son to be involved she should have produced a coin of her own.

hmc · 30/09/2012 23:22

Look chaps - I could post several links about dyslexia and grammar but that would be dullsville wouldn't it? Please take it as read (no pun intended)

akaemmafrost · 30/09/2012 23:24

It wouldn't occur to me to mind about this.

hmc · 30/09/2012 23:24

And God do I hate it when people I have insulted are so damn reasonable about it!!! Wink

arthurfowlersallotment · 01/10/2012 00:02

What annoys me more than could of is we was.
Gnnnmmmmmmmmmnnnnnn.

OP, the other woman should have rummaged around for her own change but it seems she may have been an opportunistic sort. I don't think you should let this incident trouble you any further. Capiche? :o

CandiStaton · 01/10/2012 00:06

why are people still banging on about incorrect grammar, when OP has explained she is dyslexic? Confused

arthurfowlersallotment · 01/10/2012 00:11

Because because because because

LucieMay · 01/10/2012 00:11

Bonny, it's "it's" not "its"... look at your own post before you correct others! Your spacing and capitalisation is also a bit erratic!
