To start the 'fireworks should be banned' in September?

Having just heard my first load of ear piercing rockets of the season?

Poor cats have just hot footed it in like they're in the middle of the blitz!

I love a good display, but I hate the amateur ones that just seem to be about the noise, let off at any old time from early evening till after midnight, have no restrictions about how far away from houses they should be let off (our gardens are like shoe boxes and it's a very densely populated area).

This won't finish till after new year now, although there was someone nearby who was still partial to them after the clocks changed in the spring and it was still light Hmm

Love big displays! Hate ones in the shoebox gardens!
If I get invited to one I always say no now- on two occassions I've seen it go wrong and the firework shoot towards adults and kids, luckily noone hurt. I have no solution but kids get hold of them far too easily, I live opposite a park and this time of year my driveway is often littered with the remains the kids have been playing with over there.

Grin Stratters. I'm not sure when or where they are delivered here.

YANBU they are a pain in the arse to have to listen to, I also wish that private sales of them weren't allowed, I live in a council estate where the houses are packed together and there always seems to be someone setting the bloody things off for weeks either side of November 5th.

Fireworks are banned year-round in the city where I live except for 4th of July and New Year.

Utter bliss, as I am not keen on fireworks unless they are amazing ones which you can pretty much only expect to find at a professional show.

Amazingly, most people around here actually seem to stick to the rules and it is very rare to hear rogue fireworks going off.

Fireworks heard here tonight as well. Is it some Irish celebration?

I live in a densely populated area with shoebox gardens and I would prefer this type of area to have a cat ban ahead of a firework ban. Both cause me nuisance but the nuisance caused by cats is far in excess of the nuisance caused by fireworks!
