To want to spend the day on my own?!

Have a rare, random day off on Monday...my plan is to go shopping...on my own!

I have a bunch of vouchers leftover from my birthday, so I want to go, on my own, spend my time browsing and not worrying that anyone else is getting bored or rushing so they don't have to wait or feeling like I'm dragging them around (Nor do I want to follow someone around!)
I also plan to go and have a nice lunch...on.my.own

Mentioned this to a friend and she has now decided to come along...with big "Ooh we can make a day of it etc etc" plans

I don't want to! I love her dearly but I want a day on my own! When I mention this she laughs and says "noo thats bring! Come on we'll havefun!"

I'm verging on a tantrum right now!

I really really can't bear people like that and I wouldn't dream of getting huffy with someone and putting the phone down on them. Go and have a lovely time, if she was a good friend she wouldn't put you in that position.

I rang her because I wanted to make contact with her! I didn't want us to not talk for so long it became a problem iygwim

She's always been the kind of person that HAS to be around other people and just doesn't get why people want ot have some time on their own...even if we're out and she needs the loo, she wants someone to go with her....I do love her to bits...but this part of her personality drives me fucking barmy!

And god I would LOVE a day alone. I turned down a date with a guy I've been dating (and quite keen on) last weekend on the pretence I was ill- I wasn't, I really just wanted a Saturday night in on my own. I told this to some girls at work and they were like "WHAT? You CHOSE to spend Saturday night alone?!" as though I had some sort of hideous disease! I like company but do need a lot of downtime on my own to let my head have a rest- I get exhausted by too much company (probably why I'm still single tbh!)

YADNBU! I would LOVE a day shopping on my own. What are you going to do/say?

darksideofthemooncup · 01/10/2012 00:33

If it did become a problem it would be her problem not yours. You sound lovely but stick to your guns and don't feel guilty about doing so. She'll get over it.

She didn't call or text me....BUT she "checked in" on FB where I lied about going.....Confused

I had the loveliest day ever!! I'm now lying on the bed eating one of the cupcakes I bought with a cup of tea in my new mug :o :o :o

No way! So she went to the other place to try and find you?! She is persistent beyond belief! Glad at least she didn't phone you and say "Where are you?!" Or does your FB say where you are as well...

Glad you had a good day by yourself. :)

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 01/10/2012 15:53

I don't know how she would've found me even if I was there! (I told her I was going to oxford st!) I haven't used FB all day so no chance I've checked in! I'm a bit Hmm by it though! Although I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt that she had to go anyway....!

Am SO glad I went on my own though :o

She sounds a bit stalkerish.

Glad you had a good day

I've just got out of a half-day of work (lunchtime here, almost) and I'm going to go to Ikea on my own to get some things we need. I've been looking forward to it for ages! [bit pathetic emoticon]
Bliss, bliss, blissedy-bliss bliss! YANBU! :)

aldiwhore · 01/10/2012 16:22

A happy ending hurray! Glad you had a lovely day. I'll forgive the cupcake (pet hate) but the rest sounds heavenly. I ONLY like shopping alone, with no time restraints and I absolutely adore eating in restaurants alone.

You do know you will get caught out though? Practice your answers for when she cross examines you!
