We did a mutual exchange with a friend but now I've been in a few days I don't like it kept my blinds closed as I know the people opposite and they are not very nice didn't realise they lived there until I saw her at the window :/ . The neighbour has already moaned where I parked even though we can park where we like . I wish I hadn't moved now

Not sure what the AIBU is? Are you thinking of asking to swap back?

Cheekychops84 · 27/09/2012 18:14

Just wanted advise really I guess it's an Aibu for not giving it longer but I really don't like it

I'm not sure what anyone can really advise you. At the moment I don't see a lot of options, other than to give it a bit more time.

Labootin · 27/09/2012 18:26

Leave the bastard

Errr is that what you want ?

whois · 27/09/2012 18:46

What are you talking about?

charlottehere · 27/09/2012 18:49

I thought frm the title you meant you had jsut moved off the sofa or somefink. Wink I had a little giggle then realised.

Open your blinds and try and be positive about it, give it time.

SaraSidle · 27/09/2012 18:50

Why did you move chops?

linzi248485 · 27/09/2012 20:11

If its a council swap you have 6 weeks to change your mind.

Cheekychops84 · 27/09/2012 20:31

Cause we needed more space we were a bit cramped 3 kids in a all 2 bed so thought this was a good opportunity :/

OP posts:
SaraSidle · 27/09/2012 20:32

Maybe give it a bit of time?

Any chance you could make your peace with woman over the road?it would help I think

Cheekychops84 · 27/09/2012 20:35

It was school playground stuff so shouldn't bother me :/ I've just had a baby just think feeling a bit vulnerable

Park exactly where you please. Let her know you will continue to do so. She will never speak to you again. (This is good) Net curtains/voile in front of the neighbour you don't like. Enjoy the space and your baby.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 27/09/2012 20:39

I know how awful it can be when you move in somewhere and the neighbours turn out to be horrible.

But give it some time. If the neighbour complains about where you park again tell him to stop being a busybody. After that ignore him.

Cheekychops84 · 27/09/2012 20:54

Thanks a lot will give it a try think cause I'm on maternity leave and we have kind of moved in and now I'm on my own during the day I don't Luke it and feel a bit insecure :/ going to sort the curtains on Saturday

New baby and house move... Its no wonder you're feeling down. Hope you're feeling stronger soon.

KittyFane1 · 27/09/2012 21:41

Give it longer, you sound down. :( What are the positives? Can you think of why you wanted to move other than space?Try to think of the good things if you can.

Cheekychops84 · 28/09/2012 07:42

I liked it really liked it :) but now I'm in I'm not so sure spec wen I saw who was opposite and then the neighbour moaned where I parked ! Felt really inwelcome

The neighbour's just 'marking her territory' as it were. You're new to the area and she's trying to make sure you know the rules.

These, of course, are not proper rules, just the silly little rules she has made up in her own head about how things should be done where you all live.

Kill her with kindness, she may surprise you and end up being nice.

DuchessofMalfi · 28/09/2012 08:45

I feel your pain, cheeky :(. Our neighbour's an aggressive foul-tempered bullying bastard who doesn't care who he upsets and annoys.

Cheekychops84 · 28/09/2012 10:57

It's horrid isn't it :(

Neither of us are alone in having bad neighbours. A friend of mine has had an awful time recently with her neighbours too.

There's a nasty tale in our local paper this week about several people in a road turning on and attacking grass cutters working for the town council who were just doing their job. This is supposedly a nice middle class respectable road in an expensive part of town. If this is how people are starting to behave then there's no hope is there?

LilQueenie · 28/09/2012 14:31

dont keep your curtains shut you may look like you have something to hide, give people something to talk about. Open them go out and about. Be pleasant and let the locals you meet know you are at the very least friendly and not like the neighbours you are avoiding. do it before they can start talk about you.

Cheekychops84 · 28/09/2012 15:09

Yes I opened them today well they are blinds like the office ones and cause I'm breast feeding felt a bit on show. :/ but did leave them open today . I will say hello but I'm going to keep a low profile :)

Thats what I did when I moved. Didnt stop old man neighbour grabbing my arm half way across the road with the pram and refusing to let go so he could let me know who he is. I avoid him. Too touchy feely and a busy body.
