to expect more from Fortnum and Mason?

I placed an order a couple of weeks ago for 2 gifts for friends, from the F&M website. Paid for them to be delivered seperately to their respective addresses.

Anyway, both were not delivered. I chased them a couple of days after, to be informed there had been a 'glitch' in the system and they would be despatched that night for delivery the following day.

That would have been crap enough - as both gifts now late for their intended purpose. However, they have actually just delivered both gifts to me - instead of what I paid for.

In addition, they have only printed off one gift card and because of the 'way it works' can't supply me the other one, unless i want it posted directly to the recipient - which is unacceptable to me. I want them to know who it's from when they open it IYSWIM, not when a letter turns up on a different day.

I have opted to deliver both gifts myself now - as i'm pissed off basically, and can't be bothered faffing around waiting in for couriers etc.

F&M are calling me back today (apparently) to arrange a refund of the delivery charge to my card.

AIBU to expect a bit more than just the delivery charge refund, from such a supposedly reputable company?

Never ordered anything. Only bought in person. Love the shop but I imagine it's very frustrating.

I suspect complaints have to be written on Smythson notepaper to be taken seriously and if you have a handle as well you should be OK.

Fortnum and Mason Hampers are overpriced and very mediocre. They also substitute items for inferior ones and then safe in the knowledge that the hamper was a present (who would buy one for themselves?) they refuse to do anything about it unless they can contact the purchaser! Avoid

@queseraseratoo Why did you post on a 6 year old thread?

How can someone actually start posting on a 6 year old thread about Fortnum & Mason's?! Seriously, do people actually think 'bugger me, I think I'll do a search for Fortnum & Mason on Mumsnet'???? Barking I tell you, barking.

queseraseratoo · 28/12/2018 15:45

I've started a new thread - you read my thread and that was my intention.

I never realized Mumsnet was such a rude and hostile site, I'm sure that was never their intention.

Why didn't you just start a new thread instead of restarting this one? And I didn't read your thread, I read this one (thinking it was a piss-take given that most people don't shop at F&M) & only commented because I couldn't believe you'd actually search for an F&M thread.
