To think Scribbler shouldn't have the f word at child's eyeheight

I'm not sure how widespread this shop is - it's in London and Leeds. I'm possibly getting old. But my 7yo dd was rather shocked to read 'get your own fucking lighter' on a lighter at the till when buying a card. And this was one of the less offensive messages.

Oh just be pleased your child can read... do you hold your hands over your eyes as you pass any graffiti?

What height would be correct then? Confused

Well I'd be more concerned with shops that sell porn mags and don't regularly check the shelves. I often see porn that some nice bloke has put back at child eye level...

No DN you can't have that mag lets put it back... Shock

I just teach my children that some words are for certain settings and not others, and that some words can upset some people, and that swear words are for extremis and not for everyday use.
Example - they can sing along with the CD of "Double Talkin' Jive" (by Guns n Roses) in the car when it is playing, but cannot sing it at school. Their tiny minds have so far remained miraculously unwarped by this.

I agree with PomBear.

I hate Scribbler, 99% of the cards in there are just unpleasant. There's one in Liverpool St station in a glass box of a shop so all you see when you pass it are cards with prick/tosser/wanker/fuck on them.

Whilst I like a good swear on occasion, I do find it a little wearing to have to daily pass by a shop where it's thrust (ooer) at you no matter what.

TBH the age of your child is irrelevant - DD (also 7) knows that's a bad word and (to my knowledge) has never said it, so it wouldn't necessarily bother me to have her read it per se - it does bother me that Scribbler see fit to shove it and other unpleasantness in our faces 24/7.
