Is it a silly idea to think i could get a cleaning job without having a car. im thinking maybe i could clean peoples houses in the local area. during school hours.

Ps asked my cleaner to iron a couple of times and decided ironing was really not her area of expertise!

I think re: charging, you should start as you mean to go on - it will be harder to raise your rates than to just start out with a rate you're happy with.

If you're good, word of mouth will get you very busy. I know my friend's cleaner is fully booked and has a waiting list (she chooses to work part time as she has children, but she could work 50 hours a week with no bother, people are clamouring for good, reliable cleaners).

Agree that if you can get your head around ironing, this is a popular service. I don't mind ironing but it is really time consuming and I often struggle to get it done, often ending up with a major Sunday evening marathon with 3 overflowing baskets to do. I would pay someone to keep on top of it if I could!!!!

i think your right about the charging. best just to have certain rate from the start.

just had a thought i cant supply refs as i have never done cleaning before.

I'm defo going to give it a go. nothing to loose.

I've just got myself a cleaning job,it's great,I fit it in after my job at dinner time at the school and I get £8 an hr.
The home owners are lovely,I do whatever they want me to do and a lot of ironing.
It suits me and I am hoping to get more jobs off the back of this one.

I have never known any cleaner take their own hoover and cleaning equipment with them.

Yes, just do your local area where you know you can get to easily.

Good luck :)

My cleaner has no car, comes to my rural home on the crap bus service, and uses my cleaning stuff. She's fantastic. Of course you can clean without a car!
