name them in your subject title or place a eightlegged disclaimer.

I know its the season and all that, and there are loads and will be loads of threads. but honestly If I open a thread to discover what it is about, Im almost half froze to be able click off the thread. I then cany put my feet on the floor or leave the room.

I have opened a couple in the last few days. it is unbearable and no I cant woman up or afford therapy, it is an unrational fear and I know im a woose. Im just asking foir a little warning. thanks Grin

Sounds like a good idea. I hate them too :(

OldGreyWiffleTest · 16/09/2012 20:24

I want people to stop putting the word 'spiders' in a thread title - 'cos that freaks ME out. I know it stops me reading the thread, but the damage is done the minute I read the title sob sob !!

KateShmate · 16/09/2012 20:24

I'm with you on that one!
Its even worse when you google for things to get rid of spiders etc, and all the findings bring up pictures of the bloody things!
I've even got some spider spray which has this huge horrible spider on the front! I couldn't bare it any longer so put some duct tape over it.

Indith · 16/09/2012 20:24

What eever happened to calling them Loofas? There was a time (when all round here were green fields) that any thread about the critters had the word replaced by loofa in the title. Everyone knew what it meant and nobody even had to see the word if they didn't want to.

TheEnthusiasticTroll · 16/09/2012 20:25

unrational??? irrational

Me too Grey - as soon as I read the 'S' word, I start scanning the room; paranoid that there is one.
I wish there was a world where all S*** talk was banned.. Grin

TheEnthusiasticTroll · 16/09/2012 20:25

loofas sounds good

Oh god, I just stood on a big loofah coming out of the loo. Didn't even make a dent it it!

TheEnthusiasticTroll · 16/09/2012 20:28

I know old grey Im sorry, Im the same but just had to get the message out there. normaly I just say the s word cant even bring myself to say the word or look at it, appologies

I'm not sure OP, but I've sprayed it throughout the house - we are virtually paddling in the stuff.
I've read that the shop bought deterrent spray is useless though, and you should use citrus essential oil spray - just to be sure, I've been using both.

ArtfulAardvark · 16/09/2012 20:41

I was trying to remember what the mumsnet word for spiders was!

TapirBackRider · 16/09/2012 20:45

The spray is the business - I'm nearly on week 3 with nary a loofah to be seen!

Dethlac, available from amazon (if they've got any left!)

Anonymumous · 16/09/2012 20:49

Oh, I like spiders. But please can no-one mention those wriggly pink things that live in the ground. Or those black / brown slimy things that live in the garden and eat your plants. Much appreciated. Thanks! Smile

GrimmaTheNome · 16/09/2012 20:52

I always wondered if anyone had developed an irrational fear of actual loofahs due to their being connected with (is it OK to say this?) arachnids.

Startailoforangeandgold · 16/09/2012 20:58

Loofahs are far nastier than spiders, sitting all grey and dusty and forgotten in the darkest corner of elderly relatives bathrooms, shudder.

Spiders are nice.

Now silverfish, shiver.
