I have a small, hard, pea sized lump in my breast, it's a bit like a bead under the skin. It's been there for a while, I thought at first it might be hormonal, or maybe a blocked pore or something, but it's not shifting. I gate going to the doctor, and have been puttjng off going, or telling anyone about this, but I've got my head around the fact that I have to, really. I confided in some good friends who were v supportive, and in my husband who was typically noncommittal, and am going to rhbg the surgery tomorrow to get an appt.

I know it's likely up be benign, especially given my age (early 30s) but have literally just lost my best friend's mum to BC, so crap timing really! I have been really depressed the last few weeks. It would be really helpful if anyone who has been through the process of having a lump checked would be willing to share what happened, I will feel more confident seeing the dr if I know what is likely to happen #controlfreak.

Thank you.

Make sure you get followed up on. I had a lump, referred for US and they took fluid out of it - it was a cyst. They said that would be the end of it. Unfortunately it came back. It preyed on my mind, got re-referred, got laughed at by a 12 year old male doctor Hmm A few months later I got referred again because it was worrying me. Thank God I saw the Consultant this time who when I described the throbbing pain I was getting in it didn't like the sound of it.

They took it out. It had 'atypical' cells in it - not cancerous but cells which have 'changed' and are at more risk of turning into something nasty. I get reviewed annually now although getting discharged this year - cut backs presumably. When I was in hospital the lovely girl in the bed beside me was mid-thirties with breast cancer. Not worth arsing about over and if your gut instinct is telling you to chase it - then chase it!

My sister found a "dent" (rather than a lump).

Do ask your dr and ask again if you still feel unsure. x

Lumps an be a lot bigger than a pea. Some can be walnut sized! Mine was only 7mm wide, which apparently is quite small.

I wanted to post this because I found a hard fixed lump in my right breast on Tuesday night. It was round and hard and did not move. My mother had breast cancer and is still alive and well 12 years later but I started to panic and felt extremely scared especially reading online. I was checked out and I had 2 cysts that needed to be drained. I had a mammogram and ultra sound to make sure nothing else showed up and after reading everything on line I had to share this so that other woman can read my outcome. Please get checked...
